General Discussion / Cavewomen are hot.
« on: May 09, 2011, 05:35:51 PM »
Hello again. Been on the lifestyle for 40 days or so no. I am not really following a stage, just eating all the right stuff whenever I want to but have totally eliminated breads, dairy ( except the odd bit of cheese as a treat), all grains, etc. I live on meat, fish, berries, fruits, nuts and salads. I have lost 12 Lbs in these days and more importantly feel so much better. I completed a 5K on Saturday  6 minutes faster than one I did in November last year. Finished 13th overall and 2nd in my age group, so overall FEEL AND LOOK GREAT.

Why the title you ask?

My wife just came in  and looked over my shoulder as I was on the site- her statement " No wonder you are motivated- those Cavewomen are hot".....

I started my immunization shots yesterday against hayfever and other allergies, interesting part is that since going on the diet I don't think I really need them...However, shots + caveman living must be a good thing.

Iain, let us know how you make out. Will be interesting reading for me and Falcon at least!

Snaker.

PS: Down 13lbs in 3 weeks, plus feeling HEALTHIER all the time. Please excuse the newbee enthusiasm......

I too and am a newbie, but am lucky as I love fruit, veggies and meat.

Tonight I am roasting carrots, parsnips and onions and having a side of swiss chard. I, like you, always loved the 'white stuff'. Try a roast veggie platter cooked in Olive Oil and drizzled with Balsamic Vinegar. Its a little different and looks like somethin is missing, but its more mental than anything.

Good Luck!

Well done Derris!

I started the same time as you, I am down to 192 from 203. Ran a 5K yesterday in 25:22, last time at old weight I ran 28.30.
I feel SO much better. Parsnips, carrots and onions for dinner tonight. i wouldn't have imagined that a few weeks ago!

I admit I had a beer binge Thursday....probably the biggest reason I didn't drop more. Just hanging out with my mates at a show....could i have said 'no thanks, I am beered out??' Probably but cant be too extreme can we.

Thinking of stage 2 yet?

Iain,

That exactly why i started the diet. I went to an ENT and they told me about the caveman diet to control my wicked allergies.I always suffered with Hayfever all my life.I could loose days at a time with NO energy and blinding headaches. Their diet is  not exactly as Matt has it here, but the same principles. I have cut out all yeast  (actually I lie, beer has yeast!) and all processed food. No dairy, wheat, yeast, moldy foods ( mushrooms etc). How are my allergies? Way better, but I still need my nasal spray each day. I start shots Wednesday to make me immune, but no doubt the diet has helped immensely. After the shots I could go off the diet but I am absolutely sticking with it.
I may start a new post regards my 'modified" Caveman diet the allergist gave to me, to see if I qualify as a caveman!!

To answer your question, I believe you will have way less reaction this year. Best of luck with that, I know how tough it can be.

Born In Margate, England but for the last 15 years living in upstate New York, between the Catskill and Adironsack Mountains, a 2 1/2 hour drive from NYC. Love it here except for the damn winters.

PS. You WILL loose weight, and more importantly I think, you will feel way better and have more energy. On my 22nd day and down 10 lbs, feeling energetic and motivated. Did a 6 mile mountain hike last sunday on water only.

So strange, played football like a devil tonight and then went out for a beer and fried food...but had one Guiness and came home- it just didn't look good.. Boy, this is the new me. Never thought that coffee would be harder to give up than beer though. Nicki- you will be my inspiration!

Sorry about the soccer statement- thats what 15 years living in Upstate New York does to you!

12 days in and 8Lbs lighter, feeling more energetic all the time. For years I have been play soccer twice a week, with yoga class on Wednesday, but was always 10 - 15 lbs overweight. Turns out, so it appears, to all have been in my eating habits. Too much white on my plate! Bread, pasta, dairy all gone and don't miss them one bit.

Playing indoor soccer tonight so may have a pint after as a treat..Still got to have the willpower to get through the caffeine withdrawal headache that I experienced in my first week, resorting in 1 cup black each morning. Will try again starting Monday- is it true that if you get through 2 weeks the coffee curse is forever gone?

People at work thing i am nuts by doing this- I may just shock them by showing up in a loincloth- what do you think?

Thanks for  a great site everyone!

It was a withdrawal headache. I didn't even drink that much coffee, maybe 2 x a day. One cup viewed as a treat is way more satisfying that two chugged!

I started this diet, sorry- way of eating, 9 days ago after my ENT DR suggested the diet for my allergies. I have been having wicked headaches and sinus pressure- not always bad, but always there to some degree. I was snacking on nuts and she called to tell me I wasn't allergic to any food at all, just maybe the mold in them, hence no nuts! Trouble was I was enjoying the diet, so I am now sticking with it. Had Liver, Bacon and Onions for a feast last night- what can be better than that!

Serious question's: Can you have coffee or tea on this diet? I admit I cracked after 7 days on the diet, Now I allow myself 1 morning black coffee, 1 afternoon black tea. Honestly, the headache I had all week went after 15 minutes. Did I blow it?

How about beer? Last time I didn't have  a beer for 9 days was when i was 12 years old growing up in England!

"Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb".

Good for you. I am also a newbie. We are neck and neck right now! Lost 4 pounds in 6 days, no beer or wine, solely water. Easier than I thought it would be, how tough for you?
