Advice Column / Stage 2 POST WORKOUT MEAL question
« on: July 27, 2013, 11:09:07 PM »
I eat my one meal at 7pm.  I workout at 10pm.  yes, I am a night owl.  Do I need to eat after I workout? I'm not hungry but I have read post workout meals/snacks are beneficial to muscle repair.  Can I just do without?  I used to have a serving of pecans and 3 strawberries for my post workout snack but now I'm doing Stage 2 so unsure.

Thanks,

General Discussion / I am back after almost a year
« on: July 26, 2013, 09:29:36 AM »
Just wanted to check in and say hi to those that gave me such great advice when I started!  A lot has happened in the last year.  Took a blood test and come to find out my hormones, my thyroid and some vit levels were extremely low.  I am now on Thyroid meds, Testosterone, DHEA, Mega doses of Vit D, and B, and Progesterone.
I am eating Paleo and working out again.  I am losing inches more than weight.  I eat three fried eggs for breakfast, then have dinner, then exercise then post workout snack.
Weighed 146 and now 139.  It's been about 5 weeks.
I am back on here rereading my old posts to see what I did and the advice you all gave me when I started.  Not sure what phase I should start!!
I basically eat two meals now with a post workout snack which is usually a serving of nuts and 3 strawberries!

Thanks for all of your support!

Advice Column / Re: warior vs caveman diet any thoughts?

Thank you for your feedback.  Take a look at the Warrior Diet by Original and  let me know what you think.  I am not doing it, I'm back on Stage 1.  I'm comfortable with this plan because I've done it before and I don't want to mess with what works form me.  But when I was reading the info on it it seemed very interesting.  Just a slightly different philosophy in that you eat during a nightly 4 hour period.

Hello fellow Cavers.  I've been off the forum for a long while but am back.  I love this way
Of eating but stopped for several months and slowly started gaining weight.
I started again today with phase 1.  I came across the warrior diet in that you eat in a 4 hour window after a 20 hour fast.  I would think that would be too much food but the testimonials are great.
Your thoughts on this!

OK.... you old timers know me...So right to the point!  My weight loss has stalled...should I fast for a couple days, meaning eat fruits/veg VERY lightly and no big meal?  My hope is to kick start the weight loss again.  I pretty much have been eating only one big meal a day and eating fruit.  I have not lost any more weight and have not gained any, either.  Stuck at 135!

was 153 now 135.....I want to be low 120's!

Thanks, dropped 5 pounds of liquid. Just started sipping diet gingerale.  Houmax I watched the video.  Did you
come all the way into San Antonio? I'm actually north in Bulverde!  ::)

So sorry, I miss you Houmax...bummer!  Glad to hear every one is doing well.  Being pregnant is hard.  When I was prego with the first all I wanted was garlic bread and italian food, with the second it was greek.  So, I know how hard it is trying to not eat what you want some ties because it's hard on me now and I'm not prego.  Although, I am getting ore used to eating this way.

I am very sick now.  I have a stomach virus and fever.  Can't even sip liquid....I feel like poo poo! My stomach hurts so much.  I can only lay down.

Well just checking in!  So glad to hear from you! ::) ::)

Hi friends,
I've been so busy that I haven't posted in a while but just to let you all know that I'm on stage three and still losing.  Slowly BUT losing.  I started March 3rd and now down 15 pounds.  I weighed 153 when I started and I now weigh 138!
I still feel like a lard, though!  Need to lose another 15 pounds!  I feel great, eating a lot less these days and back to running again.

So to my blogger friends you know who you are,  I am doing great and I hope you are too,  Give me a shout out and fill me in.  I really enjoyed all of your advice when I was getting started.  The Real Estate thing is slow going but going and I'm learning a lot.  Thanks for the well wishes when I took and passed my test!

Hope you all are enjoying your Easter break!  I'm going to find myself a 70% dark chocolate bar with no sugar and indulge while I watch my girls eat all of the stuff I wish I could out of their Easter baskets!!

 ;D

All the fruits mention I tried so I'm going to see if I can find Bael fruit tea. I don't think we have that fruit here but maybe we have the tea.  If not, I guess I can order it online! It also suggested dates and I do have those so I will eat those for dessert tomorrow!

I started stage 2 on Monday and it's Thursday night and even though I'm drinking a lot of water and my urine is clear I am constipated now.  Is this normal on stage 2 cuz if it is I don't like it.  I'm uncomfortable.
When I was on stage 1 it wasn't a problem because I was eating fruit through out the day and didn't get constipated at all but now it is just my one Paleo meal.  I am having a fruit for dessert but I don't want to make myself full on fruit and not eat enough protein to carry me through for 24 hours.

What should I try??
It's been 3 days feeling like this..tomorrow will be 4. I need to do something...I'm uncomfortable!

Great to see how and what you all are doing....Today is day two and other than having a hard time at the office because food is always being brought in, I think I can handle this Stage 2 for a while. Let's see...I'll keep u all posted.

Yesterday I made the curry and loved it.  Today, I will make it with chicken instead of fish and I'm going to add broccoli.

;) ;D

I would love to up my work outs but I just still feel so tired...and weak! At around 5:00 I need a nap or at least to lay down for about an hour or so.

I get up around 6:30 and work until 3:00.  I come home so sleepy!  Let's see how this new food routine goes.

I haven't lost any more weight in 9 days on stage 1 so I am going to start stage 2.  It's been four weeks so I feel I am ready!  I've been snacking lightly and eating my one meal Paleo and am unsure why the weight loss has stopped. Any thoughts??
So, let's see how phase 2 goes.  Will post my progress on Friday!

Go on u-tube and watch the cross training, boot camp type trainings and exercises.  You can do them in your room with household objects or hand weights and the exercises are intense! And yes, walking/hiking in your neighborhood is great for your off days!

No need to pay for anything! Well maybe some good workout shoes and a water bottle or water belt!!

No, I haven't.  But I've only been living here for 6 years and have only gone to the big cities. I live in Bulverde.
It's North San Antonio!  Next time you head this way, let me know!  We can do a Paleo lunch!!

I love the Riverwalk,,,parking can be an issue sometimes, though!  Depends if there's something going on down there or not. If it's an off time then parking is easy.  The Guadalupe River/Park is beautiful, too.  That's up here by me.  Oh, and Canyon Lake is beautiful, too!

Yes, eat a few more fruit.  Graze on almonds, too! Not too many tropical fruits, though. Too high in sugar.  Drink lots of water and green tea.  The hunger pangs do get a lot better, for me they got a lot better in week 2.
Now all I eat is two oranges and about 15 almonds and then my Paleo meal.  Some days I can go all day without eating anything but if I exercise then I get a bit more hungry.

I'm on day 14 and down 10 pounds and I love this new way of looking at food.

Good luck and keep us posted!  ::)

Yes, the sleep thing is true.  I try to get at least 6 hours but not always possible more so because of my hormones not my kids.  My peri-menopausal symptoms are severe but I refuse to take anything synthetic.

Houmax....OMG, I just had an epiphany reading the link you posted!  I knew you'd come through with a link for me. It is true, I've been low carbing and low fatting.....Today I will eat plenty of bacon with my eggs.

I am still losing, slowly but losing.  I lost another pound so now I'm 141.5 down from 151 when I started 3 weeks ago.

Thanks both of you for the great support and advice, it means a lot! I'll keep you posted on my progress!
