General Discussion / Re: kayaking and respect

these are the same women who squat down, have their baby, pick their child up and nestle them close to their breast as they continue their hard days work. I have nothing but immense respect for these women!

Thats my bit for today, just wanted to share what was on my mind.

I'm just picturing some chick doing that and saying "holy crap, I was pregnant!?" now.

modern self sufficiency is bull *bleep*.
When you insult my family's lifestyle, you insult me. I'm on here to share some of the experience and wisdom I've gained from living off the land in one of the most extreme places on the face of the earth. I'm here to share what I've gained as a person from interacting with and observing various native tribes. I'm here to share some of what I've learned traveling to 70 different countries on 6 continents. I'm not here to have the culmination of all of that dismissed as bull*bleep*. Please think before you speak.

With that out of the way, I would like to clarify my original point. When I talk about self-sufficency, I'm not talking about living off the land, I'm talking about a mindset. When someone gets a truck stuck here, they don't call a tow truck or a friend, they grab a shovel. It's about being able to rely on yourself no matter what the world throws at you, even if it would be easier just to get someone else to do it. It's about knowing survival isn't a right, but a privilege that must be earned every single day.

You misunderstand. The modern self sufficiency I was insulting is made up of sitting at a desk, typing and driving to the store.

Mymother got me a physiotherapist for walking properly. Although I do admittedly have short achilles tendons.

Awwwww that's fantastic Sidhedraoi  :)

When he looks up at you for the first time and gives you a big ol grin, it'll just melt you.

Dan.

That big grin will be after he dumps supper on your favourite book.

Those of us who were fed stew while sick and fish while sad are lucky.

Wow, jogging on the beach would be my ideal way to workout!

and the funny thing is I am paler than an irish vampire hahaha

As an actual Irish vampire I find that highly disrespectful. I tan quite nicely.

Surprisingly good looking for your age. We have those genes in our family too but they're activated by large levels of estrogen. By which I mean my mother looks younger than me. But then again, she dies the grey out of her hair, I don't.

Better to be seen as the guy who cooks with tinfoil than the guy who weighs 300lbs. Unless that's a muscular 300lbs.

Stopping altogether is easiest for sugar. Even eating a bit of it keeps the cravings going.

If he gets a big chunk of it then spitroast it. You could even really have a hawaiian themed supper.

Good choice. You will be giving the athletes of the future the inspiration they need to pursue healthy eating habits. Just for that, even though I know nothing about you as a person, I'll vote king.

Too true. Oh and is your avatar a picture of you? Because you look far too young to be a grandmother.

I prefer hiking. Of course that's more in the "play" category of things. Oh and try some pushups and some form of climbing for upper body exercise.

Please explain to me how cavemen got honey from beehives without learning never to try that again? Are we descended from total idiots?

Did you know that your body stores toxins in fat? The throat infection could be an old one that is coming back.

but isn't grain a "gathered" ??

It can be gathered, but so is firewood and we don't eat that. In order to get enough grain for bread it must be cultivated.

Turns out I was lucky. The swelling went down before bed and it healed overnight. I went from being unable to walk yesterday to doing fartlek today.
