So I was in the park today, walking around barefoot, and a police officer bugged me about being barefoot! What the hell? Someone actually called the police because I took off my shoes! What kind of a nosy imbecile can't mind their own business long enough for me to take a walk?

Hey, what's your favourite fight scene in movies which does not involve advanced technology (like guns) or developed martial arts (like kung fu)? If someone else has already said your favourite then go on to your second favourite.
As for me, I like the scene in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves in which Robin fights Little John in the river.

Hey, a quick story, first. I was walking my dog today when we happened across a rabid looking black lab. It ran towards us, barking, and what did I do? I instinctively reached for my knife. Luckily the dog was just feeling playful (not aggressive), so I didn't need to kill it, but the experience taught me something.
My instinctive response is to fight. I didn't even consider running, my arm just went for the knife.
So anyway, the question is, what do your instincts naturally tell you to do? Leave a comment explaining what happened that made you realise this.

Food & Diet / Weird reaction to food (possibly nsfw)

Hi, after a month on the paleo diet (3 years wheat free, 1 year grain free), I've noticed something...off. I had a bowl of ground beef, finished it, and had a strong urge to drink the fat. The drinking the fat part wasn't the weird part, as I'd seen my grandmother do it a thousand times.
The weird part was that when I drank the fat, my brain released more dopamine than it usually does when I have sex! I didn't orgasm (that would have been way weirder), but it was simply amazing!
Does anyone know why this happened and how I can repeat it?

Hi there, I'm a Canadian with a huge amount of Northern (and a bit of Eastern) European descent. After reading a few articles on lactose tolerance, I've begun wondering whether it really is as bad as everyone is saying.
I mean, grain is clearly bad, but if my ancestors actually adapted to drink milk, aren't I in the clear? I can digest it just fine, and the adaptation is no different than a human's ability to eat meat, it just happened a bit later. I also happen to be a bodybuilder, so milk really helps on my budget.
Thoughts?

Hello everyone, as most of you may have realised, modern apples are delicious. And why are they delicious? Because humans have selected the sweetest trees and grafted their stems on to less desirable trees. You see, when you plant an apple seed, you don't get the type of tree that the seed came from. You get a wild apple. And apple which can be anything, from the relatively tasteless spartan to the wonderfully sweet honeycrisp apple. I doubt all of the possibilities for apples have been found.
This brings me to the point of my post. I have two challenges for everyone out there that I think they will enjoy.
1) Over the next year keep your eyes open for a wild apple tree growing whenever you go out into the country. If you find one, eat one of it's apples.
2) Whenever you eat an apple, instead of throwing the core in the trash, find a secluded spot in a field or the woods and throw it as far as you can. Bonus points if you manage to find a spot in a city to do this.
Feel free to take a graft of any of the better apples if you find a good one (but learn the technique first!).

Hi, I'm making beef jerky tomorrow, and I need some help. Everyone keeps telling me to marinate the meat, but I don't want to. I've never tried a type of marinade that I don't hate.
My question is, will the jerky still dry properly if I don't marinate it?

Philosophy / The `Zone`

First, an explanation. Ever since I gave up grains I`ve been able to get into this mindset where it feels like I can just jump into killing whatever I happen to be looking at (usually either a squirrel or farm animal, I don`t see many deer). Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what are your thoughts on it?
It`s easily controlled so I`m not worried or anything, it`s just that before I gave up grains it only happened when I got angry.
