Title: New Lifestyle.... Needing a huge weight lose!
Post by: Scorpio on September 15, 2011, 05:42:04 AM
Hey Everyone,
I am going to be starting my new lifestyle on 9/19/11.  I have tried several diets in the past; the only one that was successful was Atkins.  But this will fit into my life a lot better.  I am 30 year old female 5’8” in height and I weigh 308 lbs.  My goal weight is 140 lbs, so I want to lose this 168 lbs.

My questions are

Can this diet deliver that kind of results?
What kind of time frame should I work towards?
Is there anything that anyone can recommend for that much of a weight lose?

I have been reading a lot of the posts but I don’t see anything about anyone losing a lot of weight (I might be reading in the wrong area).
When I start Monday, I will post weekly if not daily to show everyone the progress and get more advice from all of you!!

Thanks for your advice in advance.
 :)

Good Morning Everyone,
Yesterday morning, I weighed 307.4 lbs.  I started the lifestyle yesterday, everything went good.  My only problem was being tired, but I think that was from living on Mountain Dew for the past 10 years.  This morning I really didn't think I had lost anything from yesterday, but decided to weigh in anyways.  As of this morning I weigh 304.4, so I lost 3 pounds yesterday!!!!!!!  ;D  I didn't exercise of anything!!  Loving this lifestyle so far, I did have a little headache.  I am thinking it was caffenine withdrawls, but I was okay within a few hours.

Let me know what you think!!!
 :) ;D :o

Some paleos still enjoy coffee and/or  tea in moderation even if cavemen didn't drink it.

But just say no to the colas. There's like 16 teaspoons of sugar in a 12oz can.

Good to hear your coming along so well, keep up the good work.

Once you give up the bad carbs completely, you'll find your energy levels soar :)

Keep up the good work...... your body says "well done"

Great to hear its working for you. I used to drink a lot of coffee and tea but found out that Green tea has a small amount caffeine in it, so i drink that know and feel great. Getting away from your bad habits is the hardest part, I found but once that is cracked the weight just falls off.

Well done

Mark had some people report losing that much weight. Both Mark's and Matt's diets are very similar versions of paleo diets.

Hey Everyone!!!!
I am on day five of the new lifestyle, and I have already lost 6 pounds.  :o  I feel GREAT!!!   :) My energy level has gone up to an unbelievable amount.  Weirdly, my skin is looking great; I didn’t really think my skin would be affected.  I have always had dry skin, really dry and crackly elbows, but not anymore.  I have not touched them with lotion, this is just this lifestyle.   I think my body needed water, because I never drank water before well not this much.  Overall, I love it so far.  I have been reading a lot about the diet and success stories.

:) :) :)Thank you to everyone for their responses; you don’t know how much it means to me.  :) :) :)

@ houmax, I do still have one cup of coffee in the morning, but I have started noticing that every day it seems like I don’t want it anymore. So I might give that up all together too shortly. I read those success stories they are really good motivators, and it is real people.  That website is great too, but I like this Forum a lot better.  ;)

@lilnicki, I finally think my body is starting to like me again.  My body feels different; I have been on a lot of diets before.  This is the first one that has made my body feel different in a GREAT way.  ;D

@sammage, I am giving up bad habits slowly because I don’t want to shock myself.  I think you are right though, those bad habits are really really bad!  :D

@JGabbet, I am glad you are starting too.  Please keep me posted on your results too.  I am going to try to give updates every Monday and Friday.   :) ;D

@Luminary, Thank you so much, I am going to keep posting great results.  If I run into a problem, I hope someone can help me on this forum.   ;D

Thanks Everyone!!!!  ;D ;D ;D

Begin weight: 308     :(
Current weight: 302  :o
Goal weight: 140  :)

Woo Hoo!! The weekend was really easy, I just keep busy. I feel great and I feel like I could run a mile.  Please let me know how the lifestyle is working out for you.

Hey Everyone,
I am feeling good, last week I lost down to 295 lbs, over the weekend I gained 6 lbs back.  I didn't drink any water over the weekend and really didn't stick to the lifestyle.  I suppose this happens every now and then, Monday morning I started back at 301 lbs.  As of today I am down to 298 lbs.  I am not doing that weekend thing again, I have also start phase 2 and I like it a lot better.

Sorry for the late post, I have been busy with College homework, my job and children.

Beginning Weight: 308
Current Weight: 298
Goal Weight: 140   This goal weight is getting closer everyday.

I have a question for everyone, do you know what exercises I should start doing and the length of time?

Do something that you would enjoy, so you're more likely to stick with it....... how about walking or swimming?

Hey Everyone,
As of today I am down to 296, and feeling good.  I started a new plan Monday and that was writing on the frig. what we were eating for the whole week.  This has helped so much, because I know that I am eating what I am suppose to.
Lilnicki-thanks for the advice, My son and I are going to start playing basketball, baseball and kickball in the afternoons.
Exercise at the moment is hard because I have so much college homework, but I will be graduating in 7 weeks, so then there is no excuses.  I am also going to start walking in the morning before I wake everyone up in the morning.  I think walking 30 minutes will be a good start to my morning.  What do you think?
I have also started telling myself every Monday morning, this week we are going to lose 5-10 pounds this week.

Start Weight: 308
Current Weight: 296
Goal Weight: 140

Thanks
Scorpio

Title: Re: New Lifestyle.... Needing a huge weight lose!
Post by: Scorpio on October 14, 2011, 08:55:21 AM
Thanks, Kenny.  That was another question, do I walk every morning or every other morning?

Irishmist, the only advice I would say is remember no sugar, no salt, no grains, no dairy.  I probably say that three times before I actually eat something.  I hate salt so that was not hard to stop, but dairy and grains are so hard to stop.  Sugar is different, I like Dr. Pepper, but I hate candy. I am not a big cake or pie eater so those are easy to say no to.   Dr. Pepper on the other hand, I can see it and want it.  I am learning to say no, and reminding myself that Dr. Pepper makes me feel bad.  Now I probably drink 64-100 ounces of water a day.
Second, if you cheat you are only cheating yourself.

I also think this diet is easy because I did Atkins.  At night, I usually eat the things at the on here, but they are inflenced by Atkins.  The other day I did a carlorie counter and I had only eaten 450 calories for supper.  I am not sure if this is good or bad, but I dropped three pounds.
Let me know what you think.

oh wow, you are doing wonderfully!! keep it up! It'll be well worth the effort!  8)

even something as simple as a walk up and down the street can help! I am 2 months post partum and carrying my son around has helped me lose some of my weight. it makes my arms burn!!  there are some very clever ways of getting a workout even if you want to stay in the house. like lifting laundry detergent bottles and scooting around in a rolly chair ( i do this with my son and it really works your legs)

best of luck to you on your journey!!  ;D

Hi Scorpio, it sounds like you're doing such a wonderful job.
I recently fell off the wagon big-time, for about six whole weeks, and now I feel so sick and lifeless. I keep wondering why I'm tired all the time and then realise it's the carbs I've been eating, the processed poison junk, sapping my energy.
I'm like you in that I really don't have time to exercise, but finding little ways of moving around is essential. I really need to build myself a standing desk for my University work in the evenings, I'm sure that will at least help my posture and stop my legs aching, if nothing else.

And as an additional motivator for you - I put a load of weight on during my six-week hiatus in the world of carbs and junk - so DON'T DO IT!!  :o

Hey Everyone,
I am so so so very sorry that I haven't wrote in awhile.  I am finishing up my last two weeks of college.  I have about 11 papers to write within these two weeks.  After college, this lifestyles is going to be 100% of my effort.  I will admit, I did fall off the wagon about every three day because of stress.  I was trying to stay up late working on papers, and there comes coffee and sodas.

Recent I had to go to the ER because I was having a gallbladder attack.  Gallbladder problems run in my family, so they are going to be removing it probably, will know more Friday.  :(

Since Monday, I have been on the diet and it is really helping the pain with my gallbladder.  Doctor told me it sounded like a good lifestyle.

Please keep the posts coming. I think I am going to do what you have done and always remind myself of my start weight and my current weight because seeing the difference uplifted me and it was not even my loss. I am like you and need to lose heaps and fell off the wagon and undid all my good work that Paleo gave me.

Hello Scorpio,

Nice to hear from you again, and glad to hear you are on the mend. Best of luck to you with starting up the Caveman lifestyle again, hopefully you will get into the fatburning phase quicker than before as your body has already been used to this way of eating.

I must admit personally I fell of the wagon big time as I work in an office environment I found all the temptations that Xmas brings too hard to resist and went back to old habits. Still, here I am, trawling through all the Paleo websites, getting myself motivated for starting again in the New year. I know that I am going to succeed this time - I just felt sooo good before and want that feeling back again.

Best of British to you Scorpio, please keep posting and hopefully we can keep each other and anyone else motivated by sharing in our experiences.

Happy new year to all
Nick

It's only a week and I had a bit of trouble adjusting at the beginning. I think I might had been to strict to start with, I didn't eat anything cooked for the first three days, frankly I was so out of myself I didn't even think of cooking my beet. I also had quite a lot of nuts and seeds. And fruit.

The things calmed down a bit. The hunger is not maddening anymore. it wasn't even hunger actually, more a mental need to eat. I'd say that it was my metabolism that needed time to adjust not to eat immediately after I woke up, that not having any form of starch, the insulin functioning kicked back in to function normally, not being always on glucose-high levels.

Otherwise I don't have a specific regime. I eat in the morning, fruits usually. Today I had two oranges and a banana. It's around 10 am when I have breakfast. I feel quite energetic since I'm on the diet and I think I also sleep less because of it. This week I was up soon after 4 am, having 5-6 hours of sleep. (my old self hardly woke up after 9 hrs of sleep and I felt exhausted through the rest of the day). Around 10ish in the morning I usually feel the need to eat.
Today I had lunch at 2 pm consisting of steamed peas, cole rape and steamed fresh cabbage. Together with it I ate a small sausage.
I'm starting to feel the hunger again so I plan to eat the vegetables I have left from lunch in half hour or so.

I don't feel the need for the evening pig out therefore I don't do it anymore.

I think I have the hunger slightly more under control, recognizing it for what it is and I don't fell the constant need to eat anymore. Consequently I think I ate less in the past day or two, I'll probably eventually loose some weight. I hope I don't loose too much though.

How much do the rest of you eat? Reading some of the Lilnicki's replies, I eat for three ;)

I'm in stage 3 now so I'm not trying to lose weight right now.

I don't eat breakfast, just water and a cup of coffee.

Lunch is about a 1/3 cup of nuts and seeds and a Big greek salad.

Snack is a piece of fruit and some berries or cherries.

Dinner is like 1/2 a steak and veggies, or a piece of fish and veggies.

Hey Everyone,
I am feeling wonderful and proud of myself!!!!

@jana, this is what I eat because I am on phase one:
Wake Up-16oz of cold water
7:00am-1 cup of coffee (you don't have to do this, but I love coffee)
9:00am-10 almonds-no salt
10:00am-1 medium banana
11:00am-10 almonds-no salt
12:30pm-one small apple
2:00pm-10 almonds-no salt
3:00pm-few pieces of pineapple
5:00pm-10 almonds-no salt
7:00pm-supper-whatever I want! Only a small plate and not over loaded.

@houmaz: I will take either one.  I rode when I was a child.  As an adult I always thought I was too big of a person to ride.  When I lose the weight I don't care I want one!  ;D

Begin Weight: 308
Current Weight: 299
Goal Weight:140

Thanks

WAY TO GO!!!

No need to rush stage 2. One tip that helps is eat only Paleo foods for your Stage 1 feast for several days before you try stage 2. Will help lessen low carb flu in stage 2.

Hey Everyone,
Well I have to say that I am pretty excited and going strong.  I feel like writing on here every few days helps, because I am staying focused on the goal.  Last, for my feast I tried something different.  I had a grilled chicken salad, and I didn't feel heavy afterwards, like most nights.  I have cut soda out completely.  Monday I am cutting coffee out completely.  I think if I give up something every week before Stage 2 that will make it easier.  I have also started walking (as of last night) 45 minutes while pushing my daughter.  Another also, I cut my three fruits a day down to one fruit a day.  I know it sounds bad but not really.  I use to eat a banana at 10, apple at 12, and pineapple at 3.  So now I only eat a mixed bowl of fruit at 12:30.  I am still grazing on almonds but I limit them to about 30 throughout the day.  Its working for me and I still feel great and have a lot of energy.  I am also drinking a little more than a gallon a day.

Begin Weight: 308
Current Weight: 295
Goal Weight:140

Thanks
Scorpio

Doesn't sound bad at all, sounds smart. Too much fruit makes it hard to lose weight.

Hi

Perhaps it was just water you gained. I don't have that much weight to loose, I'm 160 and I can't afford to go below 140 because I'm 5 10. All together I've lost 2 lbs, so you are doing excellent. Those 2 lbs must have been the excess water because I fell and look less spongy. With the lbs you've lost it must have been some adipose tissue, not just water.

Not going hard on yourself is a good idea. I also accepted this philosophy because I want to be on this diet permanently not just until I'm too hungry not to eat anything I can find. Currently I have work to do where I have to stay focused and I've decided to eat twice daily. If I eat in the morning I can make it through the day without problems. Usually I kick in a daily exercise too. I eat eggs with bacon and vegetables in the morning and then I have a paleo feast in the evening with a fruit or berries for a desert. If it's a long and hard day I have a fist of nuts sometimes around 2 PM. Stage 2 will just have to wait, at least until I can afford to relax a little, if I'll ever try it at all. Depends on how the weight loss progresses.

I don't know how it's with you, because you are much more strict with the phase 1 of the diet, but I've noticed that I need less food to feel not-hungry and maintain the same physical activity level without feeling dizzy. Today I fed myself and my sister with the amount of food I'd have just for myself just a week ago.

Take care,
Jana

I started at 190 and was 156 in 5 months...

...I'm 150 now and been Paleo for about 2.5 years. You might do better weighing yourself once a week and make adjustments based on those results.

Looks like you had a few stop/starts but if I'm reading it right you've lost 10 pounds in about one month. That's great results, just keep that up and you could drop almost 100 pounds by New Years.

I'm stage 3 guy but have been doing stage 2 for 2 weeks now and I notice just in that short time there's no way I can eat the volume of food I was eating 3 weeks ago.

The body is great at adjusting to conditions of change.

@Jana: I am strict on myself during the week, the weekend is my problem.  The reason is I am at home and bored, so I turn to food and tv.  But now that it is summer, I am starting to get outside more.  I am helping my son with baseball and going on walks with my daughter and son.  My feast meal is unhealthy and I know it.  I have started looking into how to change it, I have started planning for phase 2.  I think phase 2 will be the big weight lose I am wanting.  Right now I am working towards my 50 pound goal, trying to make it but I focus on one day at a time.

@houmax: You had some great results.  I have actually lost 12 pounds in about 2.5 weeks. I have lost about 15 inches throughout my whole body.  My mom is going to be opening the pool soon so that will be a great help.  I am going to buy a swimming suit this year, that way I can swim better.  It hard to swim in a tee shirt and shorts, but that might help with losing weight.

@jana and houmax:  Thanks for always listening and writing me, You two help me more than you know.

Hey Pad,
Thanks, I put a lot of effort into this lifestyle.  The only day that hurts me is Sunday, because I am home and bored.  Plus, my husband is cooking breakfast and lunch for him and the kids.  So that part is hard, but getting easier every weekend.  I hope that you have a lot of success in this lifestyle too.  I will admit, I feel wonderful!!

Thanks

Could you not do a family activity on a sunday? that way, you will be out of the house, and get to spend some time interacting with each other (away from temptation)?

Thank you, Scorpio, for your honesty over the past eight months.  I just read your entire thread.  I started the cave man a week ago and have lost 8 lbs.  Any advice from anyone out there on traveling and eating on this diet?  I travel frequently and am in hotels about 110 nights a year.   Thanks.

Hey Everyone!!!!
Phase 2 is not as bad as I thought it would be.  It is actually pretty easy, I guess it boils down to determination.  I feel great and that is still a plus.  Last night, I had fish and a side salad.  I was surprised at how full I was so fast.

@Goldust: My advice for traveling would be to repeatly say to yourself: No bread, No sugar and No Salt.  I say this a lot throughout the day and of course when I am fixing my plate.  Also sugar free gum is a most, this gives your mouth something to do (thanks houmax for this advice).  Drink a lot of water, I drink about 150 ounces a day.  I read on one website to take your body weight and divid it in half and that is how much water you should drink without exercise.  I think traveling and not traveling are about the same, you just have to know that you want this more than anything, and always look at your mini goal and big goal.

@Pad: How did your first day on phase 2 go?

Title: Re: New Lifestyle.... Needing a huge weight lose!
Post by: Pad on April 10, 2012, 02:21:46 PM
Yip Scorpio, it is most certainly easier than expected at stage 2. I think so long as you put yourself in the mindset that you don't need to eat during the day, then you don't want to - if you feel a bit hungry, then just chug on some nice cold water....easy as pie!

I am doing fine thanks, first day was really good - think I drank almost my body weight in water  ;D but then again, I was doing some weight training. Had  some lean chicken breasts and broccoli for my feast and that was it.

Day 2 has been ok, didnt get a lot of water as the cooler at work was broke, but stuck to the one feast later on - some nice lean steak (although i did add some salt and pepper) along with some broccolli, carrot and mushroom........still finding it hard to believe that it has been almost 2 weeks since i had a slice of bread or a mouthful of pasta....amazing.

According to the scales, I have lost about 12 pounds - but I genuinely cannot see it - nor do I really feel it, but I certainly feel much healthier.

How are you finding this stage?
Title: Re: New Lifestyle.... Needing a huge weight lose!
Post by: Scorpio on April 10, 2012, 06:40:56 PM
Pad, I actually like this stage a little bit better, because I have stopped thinking about food so much.  Now I have all day to plan my feast.  I was really surprised tonight that I chose a grilled chicken salad over pizza.  My husband and son was surprised too, but I keep telling myself "you don't really want that do you?"  It helped a lot and I am so happy that I stuck to my new lifestyle tonight.  I have not had a DR. PEPPER in two days!!! I am so proud of myself!!!  I also have not had bread, pasta, anything sugar or salt.  Salt is not a problem because I hate salt.

Congrats on your success and please update me, I love hearing success on this lifestyle.  It helps me too!

Thanks

Hey Everyone,
I am loving phase 2, and I am not hungry!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!  Yesterday, I was thinking that I might put myself in starvation mode, so I looked it up.  On several websites it stated that your body wouldn't go into starvation mode until you were 10% body fat for women and 5% body fat for men.  So it made me feel better about my calorie intake (241-320 calories per day).  That was my only question and everything is great!!  Let me know how you are doing?

Good to hear you are enjoying stage 2 Scorpio.

I myself have been finding it very useful being on this stage, and think I am almost about breaking my mental addiction with food.

Yesterday, I was going to attempt fasting, just so that I could tell myself that food isn't the be all and end all of each day - well, I lasted about 9pm and ended up having a very small portion of lasagne which someone had left out  :-[ ........but, the good thing was I felt kind of unwell after I ate it, so I think my body is now getting used to figuring out what is technically bad for itself.....

So, just going to try and make my feast portions slightly smaller each day until it is an adequate size.

Paul.

Hey Everyone,
I am feeling so great and proud of myself.  I love phase two of this lifestyle.  I am starting to feel better about myself. I have also noticed that I have started looking at what everyone else is eating and saying "why".  I don't say anything out loud, but I don't know why anyone would live on that much sugar.  So last Friday my husband poured me some Dr Pepper to have with supper.  I drank one sip and throw it in the sink, it tasted horrible.  I never thought that would happen, my husband laughed at the way I was acting.  I drank probably 6 ounces of water trying to get the taste out of my mouth.  It didn't taste as good as it would have 2 weeks ago I guess.  Well I will update you later.

You're doing great Scorpio - keep it up!

Also, you are doing exceptionally well in your weight loss ;D

I've been a naughty boy over the weekend, so better get back to stage 2 immediately. Felt a wee bit down at the weekend to be honest, looked at the scales and hadn't lost any weight in like 4 days - plus i genuinely cannot see any difference in my body shape (although my trousers do feel slightly less tight). Think I'm being far too optimistic and need to get a reality check that it will take a couple of months to shed the unwanted weight I'd like to shed.

Hey MrChris,
I weigh myself everyday, I probably shouldn't.  I have to though to get myself on the boat first thing in the morning.  If I didn't get on the scale I would still know because my clothes are falling off me.  I am not complaining but I am fixing to have to go buy new clothes (hehe).  I am sticking to my mini goals of 50 pounds. I am almost there, but Sundays are becoming my enemy.  I am tiring to find things to do outside, but that is hard with a one year old. I have added Racquetball 3x a week.  I LOVE RACQUETBALL!!  It works your whole body out and you don't even notice.

Thanks!!! I agree with Houmax on the bike, but that is my 160 lbs weight loss reward.  My 50 lbs weight loss reward is going to be Zumba or P90X.  I wanted a Ninja Blender, but I really don't have a use for it.  My husband added last night that I might want a new Racquet for Racquetball, this might be true too.
Last night, I played Racquetball for an hour and then worked out lifting weights for an hour with my brother.  I slept like a baby, and I am sore today. So I must have worked out every muscle in my body.... hehe... It feels great!!

Way to go Scorpio!  In addition to weighing yourself, do you take measurements?  Sometimes what the scale says can be deceptive and if you're relying on the numbers, it can be disheartening.  Since muscle weighs more than fat, you can be going in a positive direction, but gaining weight or not losing.  My friend Annetteopotamess and I are doing this together and she hasn't lost much weight yet, but she's losing inches off her waist line.  She's on here somewhere, but doesn't chat for some reason...maybe she will after she sees this post...! hehehe :D

The problem I was having was not being able to tell it.  I know my clothes are falling off of me, but in the mirror I looked the same.  I hate pictures, so I asked my family if anyone had a picture of me around March or April this year.  Some how my sister had a picture, so she texted it to me.  I had a co-worker take a picture of me with my cell phone.  From looking at my sister's picture and then the new picture, I can see it.  Its amazing at how my face has slimmed down so much.  I have 130 more pounds to go.  I think I will lose about 100 total before January 2013, that is only 70 more pounds.

Hi Everyone, reading the success on this site has brought me great motivation! Especially you @scorpio ! I've sadly gained over 100 lbs in the past 4 years and I'm getting married in November this gives me 6 months to prepair for our big day! Starting Monday my fiance and i will be beginning the Caveman Power Diet  :) and Im Excited to see where We'll be on this journey 6 months from now :)  excited to be an active health and fit family! Let our new life begin!  ;D do you guys have any advice for stage one? I know the site says eat whatever you want at your feast to start but I really want to jump right in and eat Ike stage 2 honestly do you guys think that would be too extreme deprivation of poison food right away could make me give up quickly?
Any way nice to be on this journey with you all and congrats on all your success ! :D

Hey CaveGirl,
Thanks!!  I always hope my post help someone, but they help me a lot too.  My first three weeks, I ate whatever I wanted for my feast. The four week, I started going more caveman and gazing less through the day.  This helps your body and mind, you have to let it start hating junk food.  If you skip that part you will have a hard time in Stage 2.

How are you doing so far?

I skipped Stage 1 myself. Here's some great advice to help you move on to stage 2. Eat healthy Paleo meals 3 times a day for a week or two, this will noursih your body and help ween you off carbs. Then just move on to stage 2. Also start stage 2 on a weekend. You might feel spacey and you don't want the distraction at work or school.

And welcome.

My goal this month is to be down to 260.0 by June 30, 2012.  I haven't lost that much in a few weeks, but I have.  I gained and lost about five pounds last week.  I didn't get to exercise last week, but that is all changing today. I am making me an exercise chart and I think that will help me.  My left knee is still killing me, I think I sprained it during the work out a week ago.  I think I am going to start wrapping it during the day.

:) Scorbio... thanks for the encouragement.. keep us posted with your continued success.. I'm still up in the air... still reading about it and re searching before I start .. Post some pic's soon ... before and after is what I'd really want to see and I'm sure the rest of your many fans would love to see how amazing you look.  That alone will help the rest of us decide and keep us moving forward with this new found way of eating... Thanks once again...

FYI ... I'M INTERESTED  because I'm in the same vicinity when it comes to weight... shameful t say... put on 40 pounds since the beginning of the year and stop working out since also... but I was putting in 2-3 hrs of workout(cardio) 3-4days a week and eat what I want once a day and lost weight... BUT 2-3HRS OF WORKOUT 3-4 DAYS A WEEK GET BORING ... I do get bored :-\ very easily so ... I need to get back on to my workout but not 3hrs.. just maybe 1hr and try this diet... I Need some input from  you and friends ...
I appreciate and need a lot of help and advise..

Thanks Bryan25, please let me know how your weight lose goes, I love hearing about it.

Thanks TGI, I will try to post some pictures soon, but I hate pictures.  But if it helps others why not, right we have to be there for each other!!!  ;D

I think you are working out way too much.  I think an hour a day is good for anyone, about twice a week I play racquetball and then work out.  Sunday is my off day to rest, but not really because I am cleaning house and working in the garden. And of course running around the house with my children.  To be honest, i do cheat sometimes but I don't get mad about it.  I usually say okay for that cheat you owe yourself 30 sit ups, trust after a few times you won't cheat as much. lol

Please let me know if I can help you, I am usually on here about 3-4 times a week.

Hey Bennygem,
What stage of the lifestyle are you doing?  If you are doing stage three, I think it is a maintain stage (not sure I haven't got there yet).  Stage 1 and 2 are for losing weight.  By what you have said I think you are over eating.  Let us know what stage you are on, and we will see if we can help you.

Hey Bennygem,
You should look at stage 1 first.  Don't think about stage 2 yet.  Stage 1 is four weeks, and that is all you should worry about.  By the time you finish stage 1, stage 2 will be so easy.  I have always felt like stage 2 was going to be horrible, but when I started stage 2 it is so easy. You only think about food when you haven't drunk enough water.  Read through stage 1 and let us know if you have any questions.

I also have a active job dealing with clay and concrete, the energy off this diet is awesome and it helps the job.

Hey Wolfman,
Welcome to Caveman Power!!!!!  It is a wonderful lifestyle.  I have fell off the wagon for a few weeks, because I am stressing over buying a house and might be going to lose my job.  I have come back today to get my mojo back and to read everyone's post.  Your post almost made me cry because I have not been working at the lifestyle.  I have gained just stayed the same, but I know I should have lost another 10-15 pounds by now. So with that being said I am going to get off here and go for a walk.  I will post more often and let everyone know what is happening.

I jumped BACK on the wagon on monday, kinda struggled yesterday (dont kno why, just had a case of the munchies)  i didnt go mad, but i did end up eating bread which i am tryin to avoid. today was been good so far, just had some water and an apple. Goin go for a run later and hav some salmon for supper.

wanna lose 14lbs (1stone) hopefully.

Start weight 164lbs
Goal weight 150lbs (want to be below 11stone)
iv been stuck at 164lbs for a while now, so dat must be my natural kinda weight, i kno it will be a struggle to maintain my new weight IF i do reach my goal but hopefully i will. My BMI is almost perfect, so hence why id like to lose a little more weight.
Any advice to keep me motivated??

Well done to everyone, ye are all doing great!!

Well, it has been an interesting week for me. First couple of days I was very hungry in the mornings but now I get hungry after diner, at night. I usually have an early diner, around 6pm but around 11pm I get very, very hungry. I've cut out 90% of my usual carbs (no bread, pizza, pasta or rice) and almost no sugar apart from natural sugar I get in my fruits. However I must have a cup of coffee once a day and I usually have Latte with 1 tea spoon of raw sugar. I now take half a tea spoon of sugar and less milk. I also stopped eating dairy products (cheese, yogurts).
I've done well this week with my cardio exercise, managed to exercise 4 mornings and happy to announce that I've lost 4lbs! I'll definitely stick with this diet and continue to post my results on weekly basis. I would appreciate if anyone could give me an advice on how to combat hunger after the diner! Cheers to you all and keep posting your results as often as you can!

End of my second week. Still have cravings, trying to graze on nuts and beef jerky. Very conscious what I put in my mouth, getting used to coffee without sugar, cycling and playing squash regularly, feeling weak at times as I cut down on carbs. Lost 2 lbs this week. Can someone give me an advice on how to increase my energy level?
Like to know how you all doing? Scorpio, you still with us?? :D

Hey Wolfman,
You are doing a great job.  Be careful with the jerky, if you bought it at the store.  Jerky from the store has a lot and I mean A LOT of sodium, this can cause the weight to stay on.  I did the same thing at first I thought jerky is meat so it is good for my lifestyle, WRONG read the back label.
I am still working on buying a house and it is going to be another three to four weeks. (This is taking forever!!)
Good news I haven't gained any weight and I am watching my lifestyle (not exercising after I hurt my back and neck).  Slowly recovering and ready to start again.

I think our motivation is within ourself, but it is nice to have someone kick us every now and then. lol....  I will post sooner than later, I miss everyone here!!

Thanks Scorpio. I smoke my own Jerky and I'm careful what ingredients I add. I didn't exercise much last week, I was sick but still managed to lose a little weight. I think I'll stay on stage 1 a little longer. I'm sleeping better but my energy level is little low. How is your energy level and are you taking any supplements?

Hey Wolfman,
My energy level is great!! I have feel off the wagon due to stress of buying the house.  I haven't gained anything but I haven't lost.  I think I have lost a few inches, but I think I need to check that too.  I have started taking a daily multi-Vitamin, I have learned that it makes me feel a little better.  Make sure you are drinking enough water, that helps you energy level.

Hey, Scorpio, I just read your whole thread. I have to say, I was glad to see that you're still here (you posted today, even!).

You sound just like me, although my highest was 260lb at 5'8". I lost a large amount of weight twice, and gained it back. My lowest was 160lb at 10 years ago, and 199lb a year ago. Now I'm back up to where I started. I lost a bulk of my weight from 249-199 by counting calories. I reduced my intake steadily, from 1800, to 1600, to 1400 and then 1200. A healthy weight loss is 2lb a week. That's the best you can do for yourself, any more than that and you're at risk of loose skin and starvation (no matter what any website says about body fat). Don't starve yourself to hit some date or some goal. Look at it as a lifestyle change, do it for health. Lose weight steadily, not in a rush :) it might help you stay on track to have those extra calories.

That aside, you're a total inspiration, and I'm glad you're still at it. The worst thing we can do is give up!

I hope you come back and keep us updated ^^
