Is all natural yogurt off limits?  I know the bacteria in yogurt is supposed to aid in digestion.

ditto on the having some every now and then, when I do eat dairy its blue cheese and it does no harm. you have to watch out for the word "natural" because it may be "natural" but it may not be any less free of toxins than conventional dairy... make sure to go organic with no hormones added.  Grin

I have struggled with this question too.  My biggest problem is that there is a lot of  evidence that indicates the probiotics in yogurt are good for you.  If you do have yogurt then get something preferably organic without sweeteners.  In other words, plain yogurt.  The other alternative, is to go to the cooler section of the health food store and get some bacteria without the dairy. The company, Natren, has a pretty good reputation.  That said, I would welcome opinions from other people on this topic as well.

I don't suppose that vinegar or anything fermented would be allowed in this diet either. I drink a tablespoon of vinegar in 8oz of water every day to help with digestion. It works for me. If it helps you then I don't see any harm in consuming it.

ever since I started this diet I havent been regular with my digestion so I've had to find things that are allowed that helped as well as triscuits did and I have found a number of things that work just as well.  Cheesy

The dairy argument has been brought up many times in paleo circles even a few times on this forum, but I have tried many diffeerent eating styles over the years and I personally find that I enjoy NOT having dairy of anykind in my diet. The bennifits of not having dairy(no gassy bloated feeling) far out weigh the bennifits of having dairy if there are any.

It is right that yogurt can help us to be healthy because it cleans our colon in order to avoid any colon disease. However, I'd rather recommend you to drink kefir than yogurt.  Because kefir contains several major strains of good bacteria that are not usually found in yogurt. However, they are both good to our health because they are containing probiotics (good bacteria) that maintain the natural balance of the organisms in our stomach.

my brother did this diet before me. What he did was for a treat made his own yogurt and flavored it with honey. I will be doing that when I get to "stage 3"
