I am new here and have friends that say the Gym is the best way to get a good work out.  I have a chance to buy a bowflex but I'm not sure if this is the best route for me .  We live in the Hill country in Texas so, there are a lot of roads with hills and a lot of rough terrain for hiking.  So, I'm not sure if I should invest in the gym, bowflex, total home gym or just use what God gave us.  Thank you for your votes  Grin

Of course I can't start working out until my leg heals fully.

Prefer taking long walks up and down this hill we have in my area, it is murder on your legs but it works them out very well!!! and I like swimming in the bay, or in one of the pools at our recreational buildings ( I have this extreme phobia of sharks). and I do a lot of body weight workouts, coupled with lifting random heavy objects and lots of push ups, i love push ups :p

my favorite workout is running barefoot down the beach for about a mile and there is a spot on the beach that has these huge rocks and i push them around and use them as my weight training, its the best! especially on a sunny day! get me a tan while i'm at it

I prefer hiking. Of course that's more in the "play" category of things. Oh and try some pushups and some form of climbing for upper body exercise.

Wow, jogging on the beach would be my ideal way to workout!but,  I would love to do that but  the beach is on the other side of the state.  As for upper body strength, I have none.  I was given crutches to help me get around the house but I cant keep my balance on one leg and I get short of breath using them and I'm afraid of using them alone.  I have fallen into the wall because I thoughout I was doing pretty good and then lost my balance.  I don't want to break anything else.  I need to work on upper body and I will check out that website to see if there are any straightening exercises I can do to get stronger upper body.

Undecided I am totally out of shape!

As an actual Irish vampire I find that highly disrespectful. I tan quite nicely.

Go on u-tube and watch the cross training, boot camp type trainings and exercises.  You can do them in your room with household objects or hand weights and the exercises are intense! And yes, walking/hiking in your neighborhood is great for your off days!

No need to pay for anything! Well maybe some good workout shoes and a water bottle or water belt!!

I will need to get me some hand weights and I have a camel pack .... or I think thats what they call it.  it holds water and fastens to my  back like a small back pack.

I prefer to use my free weights and husbands bar from his bench for toning purposes.  Other than that, I will walk around the neighborhood and have been wanting to roller blade again, but have yet to go buy a new pair.

Had to cut out alot of workout equipment when I headed into the hills, but I brought my 35lb kettle bell and a heavy bag.

That kettle bell is easily the most useful, versatile piece of equipment I've ever had.
