So I am nosey...where do you all live? Are you mostly in Oz?
I'm based in Bristol UK, and most other people locally I have spoken to think it sounds a bit out there...wondering if this is a typical Brit reaction or you guys overseas have had the same? x

New Brunswick, Canada. The only other hint you'll get is that I go to the ocean all the time, which rules out the center of the province.

Hi
I am in Mid Wales. Wonderful place. As for peoples reactions it is nothing new for people to cling with the last breath to their "daily bread". Conventional wisdom is well ingrained - excuse the pun. I tell my heavily arthritic mother that I don't drink tea anymore or don't eat chocolate. Her reply "It never did us any harm" i don't have the heart to tell her my opinion. Hey - try it, find it works - tell people who are interested but watch for the headline quoters, "fat is bad for you" or "you shouldn't eat red meat".
I have no pain from my arthritis and a skin condition I had is clearing up, both or these convention wisdom/medicine said were incurable. So I know where my belief is.
Hope this little rant helps
Mark

I live in Devon, England...... it's meant to be the sunniest part of the country...... only sometimes!!..... I live in a relatively large city, so there are some open minded people..... i tend to get a mixed reaction from people.

Republic of Texas here.
Lots of carnivores here so they see no problem with that aspect. Of course they also eat tons of batter fried meats that would never pass for Paleo. And I think Texans eat more fried veggies than anybody too.

Yeah I meant reaction to lifestyle change...forum posting is part of who I am so nothing new there! lol But I get a lot of people saying it can't be healthy cutting out so many food groups from your diet, dairy, grains etc...and try as I might they don't seem to want to listen to the benefits. Maybe if I do manage to lose a she load of weight then they will sit up and listen... So we really are all over the place then... it's nice to see that we are all over

I get the scepticism from my work colleagues. The results are there to see but they're still not convinced, I think what scares them is the lack of food through the day but this is surprisingly easy *UPDATE* 2 of my work colleagues are slowly but surly eating paleo from today

my family are typical "down south" types, lots of food and lots of bread. They don't understand why I cut grain out of my diet and i tell them that it upsets my stomach too much. its just a shame that when they invite me over to dinner they never have paleo friendly meals so I am left either starving or dealing with indigestion the rest of the night... ugh!
my mothers doctor even told her to go on a more paleo-friendly diet to help manage her cholesterol and she refuses... bread obsessed this woman is!
some people won't listen, and in my opinion thats fine. at the end of the day their bodies are not mine.

"it can't be healthy cutting out so many food groups from your diet, dairy, grains etc."
This is a common mis-conception of the paleo leifestyle...... if you think about it carefully you're getting plenty of protein ( meat and eggs), carbohydrates ( fuit and vegetables), and calcium from green veggies.

Relearning how to live wild

I'm from the West Midlands in England. Would love to be by the sea or the hills - somewhere wild - but in a massive urban area. The most i have is a couple of parks. I've had a fairly mixed reaction. People at work are still sceptical but none of them can deny how much weight i've lost. I get people saying "ugg, ug ug" when I go past - caveman speak, apparently! But i just swing my significantly smaller ass at them and carry on. My other half thought i was crazy but now prefers my paleo version of foods instead of the traditional version we used to eat, so he really understands it and appreciates it more now. As for anyone else, i don't care!

Im in a cabin I built with my own hands, in the White Mountains north-northeast of Fairbanks. Just south of the Artic Circle. The closest fuel station is a couple hrs away and I have to hike down the mountain to where I park the truck. Only reason I have the computer is some extremely fancy technology that I humped up here.
I'm so isolated, I don't see another human for weeks at a time.

Born In Margate, England but for the last 15 years living in upstate New York, between the Catskill and Adironsack Mountains, a 2 1/2 hour drive from NYC. Love it here except for the damn winters.
PS. You WILL loose weight, and more importantly I think, you will feel way better and have more energy. On my 22nd day and down 10 lbs, feeling energetic and motivated. Did a 6 mile mountain hike last sunday on water only.

Berkshire in the UK. Family and work collegues are all supportive. Have dropped breads and grain but have the occasional potato. Really enjoying the new experience of grazing on nuts and berries and drinking Green tea during the day. Good Luck all.
