ok thanks! another question. I grazed all day on water, almonds, 1 orange and some beef jerky but around 1:30 this afternoon I started to feel weak and tired. Any advice for combating mid-day crash?

on most veggies I prefer raw.  cooking distroys alot of nutrients so raw is better.

I never boil veggies. If you do you'll lose many of the vitamins and phytonutrients in them. Instead I prefer steamed, roasted or grilled.

most everything raw will be better. Fresh is best, frozen not too far behind (in some cases even better since they are flash frozen at peak nutrient density)  I read somewhere that cooking carrots increases the availability of beta-carotene and cooking tomatoes does the same for lycopene. Otherwise, cooking will add flavor and make it easier to eat, but you will lose nutrients. Try steaming or lightly saute-ing.
