Yuck.

There's some other good info on the site... worth poking around and taking a look.

That is totally nasty yet I'm not surprised at all.

I have horror stories of my day working fast food... not only is the food itself a complete atrosity but the things some of the employees do to it makes it twice as disgusting.

I am always amazed how people buy this shxx!  If you want "fast food" at least go to a mom and pop diner that cooks with real ingredients!  Great blog!

I don't know about that.  A chicken can run 9 mph, pretty fast. Wink

I am not sure that there was "nothing" done to the burger to preserve it. I think she is keeping it well refrigerated in a container designed to preserve food. This along with the high sodium levels this should preserve the burger and many other foods very well. I am going to buy a McDonald's burger on my way home. I am going to leave it out at room temperature and see what happens. I will post photo's of the results.

I case you don't know. I am a very sceptical person when it comes to anything that may have personnel motives. This includes religion and hamburgers be the claims pro or con.

Here is a video of a similar test (from the documentary "Supersize Me"), in which the food is stored at room temperature:

Yeah, I don't ever want to eat mcdonalds again

I haven't eaten at McDonald's since watching "Supersize Me" about 5 years ago.  About the closest I come to eating at a fast food chain is Subway (they'll throw together a decent salad for the price of a sandwich).

The fries don't degrade because they were dessicated during deep frying.  All the moisture was driven out. A thin cut fry cooks differently than a large thick fry. This is why thin fries are crispy in the middle. The larger fries retained more moisture during cooking. This is why they are soft so they rot rather quickly. A thin dehydrated fry will last practically forever unless they get wet, the same as any other dried fruit or vegetable. Not only are they void of water but they are also salted. Salt will adsorb moister in the air. By placing the salted dehydrated fries fries a the glass jar you are creating a perfect environment to store dehydrated food.  As for the burgers the moister in the bread is trapped by the jars and creates a humid environment. The warm and wet environment promotes mold. Its like a mold incubator.

I have 2 plain burgers from McDonald's that I am going to do my own experiment with.  One is in the fridge in a storage container. (Like the so called 12 year old unpreserved burger) The other is out in the open air. (On a shelf in my garage. I will let you know how this turns out. I am only interested in seeing the results of a non bias test. I do not feel that the creator of super size me is unbiased.  In fact I think he was just out to make a quick buck. But who can blame him for that? If you only eat fast food from any chain or even made your own fresh fast food style meals (Cheese burgers fries and coke) you would get the same results. A big fat gut and poor health! I do not think eating McDonald's in moderation is any worse than other other food chain. McDonald's is not killing people. People are killing themselves with there inability to control there eating habits.

You make some good points, and I agree that McDonald's food isn't necessarily less healthy than some of the food from other fast food restaurant chains.  I disagree, however, with your assertion that McDonald's isn't killing people, just as I would disagree with someone who states that Big Tobacco isn't killing people.  Yes, it is ultimately the choice of the individual to eat the food (at least if the person is an adult).  However, the marketing tactics, the physical positioning of business locations in low-income areas, the virtual recruitment of customers at very young ages, etc., all result in people unwittingly developing poor lifestyle habits before they have a chance to know better.  There have been TREMENDOUS cover-ups within the McDonald's hierarchy regarding these very subjects.  As far as I'm concerned, it's one of the "evil empires," a huge corporation satisfied with providing a product that it knows will lead to the disease and early death of countless customers, for the sake of profit.

Yes I see your point. It is very hard to defend the way McDonald's promotes and markets there product.  But I do not think they are doing anything "evil" as I do not believe in evil. In the end whether it is right or wrong we live in a world that is ruled by the the fittest. As an animal like all animals in nature we are no exception to this rule. The strong will prey on the weak and the weak will ultimately pay for there weakness be the payment in poverty or death . Unlike other animals we are dealing with same species predators that do not want to consume us but rather they want us to consume them. They use there preys ignorance as a tool to manipulate there weaknesses. Now I am not saying there is any honor in preying on the weak but McDonald's is doing nothing different than any other major corporation.  Look at Pepsi and Coca Cola they have been marketing unhealthy products to children for years and I have yet to see them attacked as openly McDonald's. I could fill this page with corporations who are guilty of the same type of marketing to sell unhealthy products to people. I do think children are unfortunate victims of many things. This includes corporate greed but the greatest injustice a child can receive is being born to an unfit parent. Unfortunately people who are unfit to have children are far more likely to have children and in many cases several. I believe this to be a much larger problem then the marketing of unhealthy food. I guess one could argue that this is the circle of life. Natures way of providing for the fittest if you will. The hawk must have prey and they prey must reproduce in large numbers to avoid total extinction. I know people do not like to think of themselves as just another animal. People like to think we are different but if you look at the evidence you will see we are just as wild and instinctive as any animal but our intelligence makes our methods far more complex.

The strong will never stop feeding on the weak. The weak will never stop reproducing. This will never end.
Right or wrong? This question is irrelevant for the weak and unasked by the strong.  This is the world we live in and all we can do to protect from this is to make sure we ourselves and our own children are not to weak.

I haven't eaten McDonald's in a long time - and when I did it was the quick chicken nugget. However, I was highly against McDonald's prior to this post and now I am extremely, highly against it. YUCK!

Thanks for sharing!

In my opinion, it does bother me that they get away with marketing their food as "healthy". I cringe when I see someone say that they are going to get something healthy at McDonalds. I wish every place you go to had the nutritional value stated.
