Any advice for vegetarians like myself? I love the idea of this diet plan but I'm slightly hesitant considering much of the valuable fats and oils come from lean meat. Has anyone tried/attempted this diet as a vegetarian and what successes/fail points did you run into?

I don't think you'll get all the nutrients you need to be honest, as a large part of this diet is meat.... There are some other posts further down the list, saying much the same thing I think.

Are you eating fish at all?

Unfortunately not. I think I will give this a try anyway and report my results after the first week or so. There are many good substitutes for protein so I think with just a little creativity, I should manage just fine!

I guess it depends a bit what you were eating before....... if you are giving up processed foods and bread/pasta/cakes/biscuits, then that can only be of benefit to you.

If you're vegan, no way.  If you're vegetarian and include eggs (and hopefully fish), it's possible.  For health reasons, I wouldn't recommend following a vegetarian diet to anyone.

I would say this diet is only doable for vegetarians if they eat eggs and/or fish. You will not get proper nutrients if you limit yourself down to only fruits, vegg and nuts/seeds. not to mention you would have to eat a lot of nuts/seeds and that can be unhealthy due to the metals in nuts/seeds. beans are out in this diet, so are grains, soy based products, legumes, peanuts, etc...  you would be limiting yourself too much. if vegetarian works for you then keep doing it, you can follow the stages of fasting but i wouldn't limit your protein sources. If anything i would atleast add eggs to your diet, if you are keen on trying this diet out.

So I did say I would report back what I encountered. I also happened to be traveling during my progress so it happened to get pretty interesting. As it follows, I am still very much following a vegetarian diet, but as advised by some of you here, I have begun to include eggs/fish/meats on a rare occasion, if only sourced from a free range/sustainable market. It's been going fairly well, although I notice quite a craving for fatty foods. So I'm looking at how I can spread out my meat intake to  subdue that.

I'm not really sure you need to " subdue" the desire for fatty foods...... The " diet" is not low fat....... Of course you know some fats are better than others...... Oily fish for example is a good idea as is un-saturated fat. Cavemen would have eaten fat especially in the winter  to help keep themselves warm.

Glad to hear it's going well for you so far,
