I have 8 weeks until christmas and would really love to love some weight so going to give this a bash.

I will be at home for the next 3 weeks and then go away to work for the next 4 so thought about doing stage 1 for the 3 weeks at home and move onto stage 2 when i go to work.

Most days I don't have lunch anyway so this shouldn't be a problem for me.

I need to lose a lot of weight, i am about 140 kilos right now but my wife has just fell pregnant and i really want to be thin for when my first child is born.

Any advice is very much welcome

Thanks

Hello, Henke... welcome to the Tribe, and congratulations on the upcoming birth of your child   Cool

For people just beginning with this way of eating, the best advice I can probably give you is to listen to your body, and don't try to force a drastic change overnight.  Give your body time to adjust to the new feelings that will arise as it goes from burning sugar and simple carbs for energy, to burning stored fat, instead.  If you can stick with eating this way most of the time, you will find yourself drawn increasingly toward the types of food you were designed to eat.  As time goes on and you find that you feel greater health and vitality day by day, it will become easier to resist the temptation to eat the way you used to.  Of course, the more strictly you follow this way of eating, the more dramatic your results will be, but don't be afraid to allow yourself an occassional indulgence once in a while, if it helps you to stay on track in the long run.

Thanks for your reply Tony and your warm regards.

On day 4 of stage 1 now and no problems at all.

I am very focused on this and am certain that for once in my life I can do this.

The important thing also I think is that if i do go back into old habits, accept it and get back on track as soon as I can.

Coming on here and reading about so much people trying the same thing as myself is a great encouragement.

On previous diets, i don't know why, but i have been embarassed to tell people that i am on a diet but not now, I really want to be as healthy as I can for being a father.

Thanks

On my 7th day of stage 1 now and i'm amazed that not once have I felt hungry since I started.

Just eating fruit and veg through the day, haven't managed to find unsalted nuts yet, and an ordinary meal in the evening.

I always drink lots of water so that part's easy and i have a cup of green tea in the morning.

I can actually feel smaller already and i'm certain that I won't fall off the track of this.

Glad to hear it's going well for you, Henke.  Where I live, the best place to buy unsalted nuts is "in bulk" (quantity by weight) at health food stores.  I pay about $7 US for a pound of raw or roasted unsalted almonds (one of my favorites).  Another good tip to have a convenient, healthy, high-protein snack available at all times is to make a dozen hard-boiled eggs at a time, peel them while still warm (easier this way), and put them in a covered container in the refrigerator.

A little update folks.

First of all I get so much encouragement from reading sleo many new people trying out this diet and lifestyle adjustment.

Ok that's me 4 weeks down the line since I started and I am so happy.

I have no idea how much weight I have lost as that is not that important to me, just looking and feeling better is fine for me.

I have only been on phase 2 for 3 days now but find it really easy to follow. I am at work and just stay at work at lunchtime instead of the canteen and no problems at all.

I do 30minutes on the running machine in the morning and then do a 30 minute walk to work after and everything is going really well
