Today is my first day on stage 1. Im grazing on almonds and fruit (peaches) and going to have my 1 meal tonight. So my question is does that sound ok for stage 1?  Im actually about 60 lbs over weight. So just the fact of losing 5-15 lbs in 2 weeks excites me. mostly i just want to be healthy.

Hi, I am new also, but from my understanding your on the right path. My only question for you is, are the peaches fresh? The canned kind is packed with syrup. other then that i would say your doing it right. Grin

I had that same reaction to pizza. My stage one was pretty healthy. Well i did have the occasional burger but i kinda stayed paleo. Lost weight even on stage one.

I started today with stage one. I thought I would have trouble through the day only grazing. I also hit the gym today and I did ok. Had a little headache. I will say I was looking forward to my feast and I had it around 5:00. Now I usually dont get to bed until around midnight. My concern there is it ok to still graze on some fruits or nuts or is the feast the last meal. I notice I start to get hunger around 10. Any advise? Thanks

Stage one
If you want to strictly follow the stages as Matt laid them out, stop eating after your feast, (no grazing). Instead of eating at 5pm maybe push back a couple of hours might help.

I didn't do stage one since I had already been eating paleo for several weeks and didn't want to add non-paleo foods back into my diet. After 3 weeks eating paleo foods I went on to stage two and stayed on it till I lost 45lbs(several months). Now I'm stage three but sometimes will do stage two eating pattern. Even in stage three I only eat two meals a day(lunch/dinner) and modest grazing if I get hungry.

I used to drink a lot of water about an hour before my feast which helped resist the urge to feast on anything when i got home. I found it gave me time to think about eating better foods. Good Luck.

Hey everyone!
Im new to this diet and i have just started stage one! Today it started and i grazed on small cuts of orange and then drank water throughout the day!
I found the water in the morning does give me that refreshing feeling!
although  when i got home for my feast i had steak and salad but i still wasnt 80% full so i had 3 rice rounds with avocado on one and the other peanut butter  (no butter) aswell as a cookie, i couldnt resist! i no it says ur meant to eat what ever you want on stage one, but i feel guilty! is this normal?
and any advice would be amazing from anyone just starting or finished stage 1!

Hey em! I've only just finished day 2 of the first stage, and even though we can eat what we want for a our feast, I feel guilty today having chicken and potato wedges. I've gradually cut back on the carbs, and have stopped eating bread and pasta etc, but potatoes seem to be the hardest one to stop. Any suggestions that could help chuck the spuds?

Whenever i get a spud craving, i have a sweet potato....... they are kind of a "grey area" for the paleo diet, but certainly better than an ordinary potato !!

I have always felt that if you eat other veg on in your meal 1 or 2 small potatoes (boiled, mashed or jacket). If the meal is Meat and potatoes only then that won't help. After a while you'll find you prefer the other type of veg too.
