Hi, we are new to this site..we are a couple on day 2 of stage 1.  We have read quite a few of the forum topics and are a little confused as to what you are 'allowed' and in what quantities.  Someone has said you are allowed a hard boiled egg in the 'grazing' stage and others have said you can only have a couple of pieces of fruit & 1/3 cup of nuts for the whole day (until feast)??  If this was the case, we would more probably eat the furniture! Grin

Can someone please help, give us a little advice or point us in the right direction?

Cheers :-)

If you read the stages as set out by Matt Emery, they will tell you specifically how much / what to eat.... if you find it doesn't quite suit you, you can tweek things a bit it you want. For example..... too much fruit can upset some tummies, so you can have a bit of something else instead.... some people get too weak on stage 2 eating nothing all day, so you can graze a LITTLE.

Whatever you are eating in stage one i would stick to 4 handfuls stretched out over the day until your feast. Maybe one handful of berries, one of nuts, one of seeds, and half a boiled egg with small piece cooked chicken breast....... It's normal to feel more hungry when you give up carbs, because they really do stuff up your stomach....... on this "diet" you will feel 'not hungry' rather than 'full' which can take a bit of getting used to.

Keep posting and let us know how you're getting on.

Thanks very much Nicki, the advice is much appre :Pciated!! We will keep posting as we go..day 3 & all is going well so far but myself in particular, I am feeling quite tired & drained & had Chinese takeaway for feast last night & same (the remaining half) tonight, along with a little chocolate...Is this normal in the beginning? Just wondering when my energy levels will rise which ive read about?  I am also drinking 2-3 cups of tea a day with soya milk - is that acceptable?

Hi

I'm just copying houmax response  when I started the diet. It helped me a lot. Read also the link.

Yep, we have to get calories from somewhere. From a paleo view that's gonna be meats and fats.

Don't buy anything that say's low fat on it(they load it up with sugar to make it edible). It's the grains, sugars, and added chemicals that we should avoid. Go caveman on a nice marbled steak and see if you don't feel better and I bet you won't need to graze so much either.

Thanks for the comment houmax. I checked the links and bookmarked the blog.

I felt something was off, and asked a lot of questions in the last few days mainly to find out how the rest of you is coping.
I followed the advice in the links, and yours, and prepared myself a good dinner. At least I hope so. Bacon, enough of it, green peas and salad.

The energy seems to come once you're eating paleo only foods...... any carbs for your feast on stage one with make you feel rubbish....... that's the point of stage one, to make you realise how cr*p you feel eating the wrong foods.

As soon as you've had enough of stage one, head over to stage two.......you should feel better for it Smiley

Hi jana,

Definately improving! On getting weighed yesterday,I have lost 3.5lb in a week on stage 1! whereas Neil has lost approx.11lb... All good but I am finding I have even less patience with things/people than I normally have & am feeling more emotional...don't know if this is a normal part of the process???

It could be due to a couple things. One is low carb flu which is normal and will pass..
http://www.marksdailyapple.com/low-carb-flu/

It could also be signs of too few calories(a bad thing). Cure is eat some caveman approved calories like a big steak, some ribs, shrimps, etc. If your trying to live on salad and lean chicken breasts you will feel bad.
