I've been eating chocolate.

This morning I had a bagel (full of bacon and egg).

Why does stress make people eat things when they know they shouldn't? This culture of comfort eating is probably the whole foundation of the obesity epidemic.

No biggie, everybody cheats sometimes.

Just accept it and don't beat yourself up. Like when I have a cold I'll down chicken noodle soup like a 9 yr old. It's comforting.

The most exciting thing is that you feel like we are family and you can come clean and own it. I say you just get back on the horse because we eat healthy most all of the time.  God Bless your pain for the next couple of days.

Thanks guys
Feeling the pressure with work and university at the moment - both are insanely busy and I'm sinking under the pressure. It brings out the glutton in me.
But today will be a good day, at least paleo-wise. Bacon and apple for breakfast, salad, tuna and more bacon for lunch, almonds as snacks, omelette with vegetables tonight. I am sticking to that plan... I AM!

Falcon,

I've fallen off the wagon too, I was working in NYC for a week and it's difficult to stick with this out there when everyone wants to take you out for food and drinks. I'm back at my desk today with a pot of blackberries and a bag of nuts, climbing back on to the wagon. I was feeling sick for most of lastweek  Sad

Well, to top it off, I've put on 4lbs in the last week from non-paleo eating! That's both shocking and disgusting!

Fatty Falcon!!  :'(

I also have been bad so I am going to the next level. I had popcorn at the movies and it was like a salt lick. I am still parched. The eating what you want for dinner is too much of a license for me. I was really looking forward to my meals. That nonsense is going to end!

Hey Iain
Glad to hear someone else is feeling my pain!! I had a really good day yesterday and lost 1lb in 24 hours, so that proves how bad non-paleo is for you! I too am hoping to be back to where I was by the end of this week.

Amie - I used to be a fiend for popcorn but now the thought of it really makes me feel sick. I have no urge to eat it whatsoever. Which is good - it used to make me really bloated.

I sneak in a good bar of 80> % coca dark chocolate to the movies. Better than any of the crap they sell there.

I've had a few really bad days this week, and the scale let me know.  I do appreciate knowing that I'm not the only one who sometimes slides right down the slippery slope. The first week, I pretty much stuck to eating paleo.

Over the week and a half when I was kind of experimenting with paleo and then doing what's recommended on this site, I lost 9 pounds. This week, my daily snacking and my nightly feast have been a disaster, and I am back up 4... I can fix this! I am extraordinarly motivated because my weight is standing between me and other things I want.

Hello, well I lost 3 of the 4lbs I put on, so still a little way to go. Now that the weather's improving I'm hoping to get out more and get some exercise - when I have the time!
Trying to be a lot stricter this week - want to get more than the 1lb left off. Looking forward to being able to buy some new jeans in a smaller size by the end of this month...

Why does stress make people eat things when they know they shouldn't? This culture of comfort eating is probably the whole foundation of the obesity epidemic.

It's not culture, it's misunderstood biology. Stress produces cortisol. Carbs cause a jump in insulin. Insulin reduces cortisol. Even if our minds don't realize this, our bodies do.
