Greetings from Portland, Oregon, USA!

I'm embarking the Caveman Power Diet today, and signing up with a functional fitness gym starting next week.  That said, I'm a pretty social guy, and I like to drink wine with dinner with my wife.  I am not a consistent drinker, btw, just an occasional social drinker only.

Since the CPD doesn't mention alcohol (or I didn't see it), are we still able to imbibe during our feast at night?  Today is St. Patrick's Day, btw.  Those Irish! (shakes fist)

I think wine is better you us than beer. My problem is I like beer better, especially good Belgium brews.

Hello Stubbler,

I still drink wine and beer, I'm still losing weight...Maybe not as quick as could but it is going. So I'm happy to have a few after work or with dinner. That said, I'm in NYC for a week from Sunday and I'd imagine I will be out drinking the whole time I'm there...I'll post the results up Monday week.

PS. The week drinking is purely for research and I'm by no means just going on a jolly for a week!!!

Thanks guys, this is helpful.  The CPD didn't seem particularly restrictive about alcohol, although there are the usual cautions.

I would think the occasional beer or glass of wine would be just fine as long as you don't over indulge yourself or drink a sixer every evening after work, hehe.  I know I enjoy a glass of wine during my bath time in the evening sometimes.

A can of beer has roughly the same calories and carbohydrates as a slice of white bread. You wouldn't eat the bread so why have the beer?

If you are going to drink, the best way to go are distilled spirits. As the alcohol sugars have no impact on insulin levels, many have effectivelly zero carbohydrates. Stay away from the sweeter liquors too.
