Hi my name is Lizardgirl and I am looking forward to changing my life--physically and mentally!!!  I am your typical "pill popper", fad dieter, etc......
I am very obese!!!  according to my PCP!!!  I am 5'4 and 208lbs.  I have been married for 8 years....and it seems with each year added...I add 10 lbs!!!  I am a mother of 1 beautiful daughter who is 3....so I'm always in demand!!!  lol  I work full time...and so of course I am so exhausted by the time I get home.    I am in need of a change....more energy.....etc.    I think this may be the "change of life" I have been looking for.  Not
DIET"!!!!  I will be starting stage/phase 1 tomorrow.  I am looking forward to this adventure!!!  I hope to meet new friends.   And any advise or comments or anything is appreciated!!!  Talk to you soon.

Houmax is a great resource and and if you ask questions he'll answer with informative links.  Lilnikki, too!  I just finished day 4.  I think this will be a great way of life for you.  The first couple of days are a challenge but just graze and you'll get through it.  I've been grazing lightly on almonds and drinking water and green tea.  I also have 1 or 2 fruit.  Then I have my main meal.  For my main meal, I didn't do Paleo for day 1 but for the last 3 days I have.  I have also managed to get in workouts.  When I workout the hunger feeling goes away.

Just make sure not to over graze and not too much tropical fruit, go light on fruit, preferable fresh not dried and  remember no peanuts!

When I'm feeling a little uncomfortable, like I need reassurance, I come to this site a read the forum or write a post.  It helps a lot!

Good luck on the journey to a new you!  We are all in this together!

welcome to the tribe Smiley like mommyof2 said there are many many helpful people on here that will keep you motivated! Ive been living this lifestyle for nearly 2 years now and everyone on here keeps me motivated and excited! its wonderful to have new people come in and see how well they adjust. another site I would suggest is Marks Daily Apple, there are a ton of success stories that will keep you motivated and many many resources for any questions that you may have, in case you need something pronto. Paleo Hacks is another good site if you have a question, it has a large community of paleo-friendly people. This site in my opinion is more like a tribe, we are all family here. Makes me feel very warm and comfortable to be able to connect with these people.

Keep us updated on your progress  Cheesy

I am going to be a mommy in August, first timer! I know that its going to be a wonderful experience! let your child be your inspiration as well, our children are our future and that future is going to be so interesting i am sure, i meet so many lovely young folks that make me anxious to lead a long, healthy life. i want to see what they create for us.

anyway, rambling! Welcome Welcome!

Welcome Lizardgirl. Be sure and keep us updated with your progress - I find that telling people how I'm doing also motivates me to keep doing it, as I don't want to have confess to falling off the wagon if someone asks how my lifestyle is going!

Ok...I am a little confused.....please help?

Do I count calories or not?  I looked up my caloric intake for extreme fat loss and it said 1600.

If I graze during the day (which is fine)...it seems I will be gorging myself at night....Is this right?  And let's say I don't gorge myself....then I am maybe eating a total of what 1000 calories.....is this even healthy?  Or is this the point?

Please help me understand?  I want to succeed.....

I wouldn't bother, I don't think that actually works and is more of a gimmick for selling weight loss products. I would say, just eat when your hungry, stop before you feel bloated and look forward to the evening meal.

counting calories is a no, at least in my opinion. I do it for fun sometimes (yes, i find it entertaining haha) Tongue

the way I see it, eat till you are 80% full and then stop, that way your brain has time to catch up to your stomach. this is an asian method of maintaining a healthy digestive tract and also keeping yourself from become overly full, which causes indigestion and even constipation.  I found that I lost more weight (and was able to maintain it better) eating a high fat diet than I did eating a low fat one, so dont worry about low fat options, marbled steaks, olive and coconut oil, avocados. all these things have high fat contents yet they are very successful weight loss products, and they are natural!  Smiley

my tip: during your feast make sure to get a good amount of fatty acids in, that way you will stay fuller longer and also give your body that "boost" it needs to energize itself.  I take 2 fish oil tablets a day, 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and use another source of fatty acids, avocado or olive oil, or a fatty steak for my third serving. this way I am having a fatty acid with every major meal of the day. not only does the fat help my body absorb nutrients it also keeps me feeling full so i dont have to graze as often. but seeing as you are on stage 1 i wouldnt eat as much fat as someone in stage 3 will, but dont forget to get that fat in your diet! it makes a big difference!

thats what has worked for me  Grin

I started stage 2 on Monday and it's Thursday night and even though I'm drinking a lot of water and my urine is clear I am constipated now.  Is this normal on stage 2 cuz if it is I don't like it.  I'm uncomfortable.
When I was on stage 1 it wasn't a problem because I was eating fruit through out the day and didn't get constipated at all but now it is just my one Paleo meal.  I am having a fruit for dessert but I don't want to make myself full on fruit and not eat enough protein to carry me through for 24 hours.

What should I try??
It's been 3 days feeling like this..tomorrow will be 4. I need to do something...I'm uncomfortable!

All the fruits mention I tried so I'm going to see if I can find Bael fruit tea. I don't think we have that fruit here but maybe we have the tea.  If not, I guess I can order it online! It also suggested dates and I do have those so I will eat those for dessert tomorrow!

Calorie counting is a big fat NO........ just eat a sensible amount of food....... remember your stomach should be the size of your fist.......so only put in enough food to fill it.
