So i decided to give the paleo diet a test run. However i am not completely going 100% paleo because first off i barely get enough calcium as it is so going no dairy is a no go. The main thing is that i have cut out grains from my diet. I am my 5th day in to this diet and am noticing some tiredness. When i wake up in the morning i have to get my pan going first thing cause i instantly need something to eat. Is the diet a contributor to my tiredness? Should i stop or is this completely normal?

Btw ive just noticed that by increasing my saturated fat and protein count i have become quiet the opposite of depressed haha. Anyways thanks to all who answer.

PLease don't think this diet is low calcium...... a cup of cooked spinach has the same calcium as a cup of milk......you can also get calcium from most green veggies and also fish.

As for the tiredness.....It will take your body a bit of time to adjust to the reduced carbs, so do stick with it . ( you body needs to switch to geting it's energy from the protein)

ditto what nicki said about the switching from carbs to protein causing tiredness.

as for calcium, i eat greek yogurt on a regular basis and it doesnt effect my diet at all. actually sometimes it makes me feel better  Cool  however its true that you can get plenty of calcium without having dairy in your diet. some of us bend the rules a little, if you keep things flexible then you end up being able to stick to it longer. Grains are my worst enemy, I have maybe 3 servings of grains a week at most. but this is due to having a hard time finding palatable alternatives to some recipes that require grains. the way i see it so long as grain is considerably reduced in your diet you should be just fine.
