I started this food plan on Sunday, so am stage 1, day 4 - so far so good. I am also trying to lose weight - I am a bit concerned about eating nuts every day, as they are so high in fat. I am limiting it to 2 ounces of nuts a day because of that. Can anyone comment on that - ie, weight loss and eating so many nuts?

Also, in Stage 2, I see that you need to go all day with no food, and only eat one time per day, is that correct? I thought that eating once a day would be quite detrimental to keeping the metabolism stoked - what's up with that?
Thank you - I look forward to getting alot of good tips from this website and forum!

when I did stage one I think I was eating way too many nuts, after I cut back I started losing weight, I toss a few now and then in my salad but hardly eat them at all, I have a few sunflower seeds most days now, on stage 2 I couldn't do the no eating all day I felt terrible so now I eat my feast meal in the morning and just graze all the rest of the day, I feel great and have lost 10 pounds and some inches, I was told I didn't have to follow stage 2 to the exact way just do it so you feel good and as long as you are eating the proper foods it will work.!! good luck Smiley

As far as I know, the fats in food, do not amount to body fat, body fat is caused by carbs which turn in to sugars in the body causing the body to produce insulin. Insulin is what turns in to fat. So if weight loss is the main short term aim then it's the carbs and sugars that need to be cut, so try and stick to berries and nut's for the short term. Also I read somewhere that the fats in Nuts, Avocado's,olives, Meat, Fish etc help the body obsorb vitamins/ vitamin, I can't remember which one?

The fats that do harm are the trans fats or hydrogenated etc the sort of thing that chips/fries get cooked in.

I am certainly no expert, so if I've put anything that isn't accurate then someone please point it out. I have also used the Atkins diet, which proved to me that eating fats does not make you put weight on, and after eating bacon and eggs in the morning, meat and salad at lunch time then big steaks with veg at dinner time, I would wonder how it was working, so for me, it's cutting the bread, pasta, potatoes etc that worked.

What I prefer about this way, is it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle (and a very easy one to follow) and you can have fruit with it, which I really missed when I was on the Atkins. Also there's no gimmicks with this, everything can be bought in your local green grocers, butchers, fishmongers without added supplements designed to keep you hooked.

Anyway, rambled on for far to long but I hope this helps.  Grin

Read up on the myth of having to eat 6 times a day to maintain your metabolism!

If you work through this diet you will see that what we were programmed to believe by the FDA is actually not true at all.  The food pyramid is another fallacy!

Read up on these types of things...Mark's Daily Apple has lots of info on this!

Stick with this and the results will speak for themselves!!

Good luck and welcome!

If you suspect that statement to be true, then you'll probably want to know why it could be true. Well, this is what I have devoted my life to finding out, and I want to share with you everything i've learnt, as well as learn from you!
