General Discussion / Advice Column / Re: How much is bingeing in the evening?

I used to eat until I was stuffed, but after being on the cave man/Paleo diet for a couple of weeks I've retrained myself to stop after eating what I put in front of me,not go back for more, and not go looking for treats that are on the no no list....
I don't sit down to meals other than breakfast,I just snack all day on Paleo food, and I feel good and energized all day....
I used to get ups and downs with blood sugar swings, but now I don't.
It takes time, but if you take a few minutes before you eat to stop and think about what you're eating, you'll feel less inclined to eat until you can't eat anymore....
I'm still new at this, and still getting used to my new eating plan, but it's working,I feel better, have more energy,so I must be doing something right.

I think it has more to do with the cost of feed and cost of transport rather than popularity.
As the cost to raise an animal to market weight goes up,as well as the cost of fuel to transport said animal to slaughter, and the final product to the store you purchase it from....the final cost is passed on to the consumer.
I buy all my meat locally, from local farmers,so the cost is relatively low still.

General Discussion / Advice Column / Re: Grazing/and another question

I've been grabbing a different item each time, one time nuts, one time fruit,etc,etc....alternating so that I am not eating all of one type of food.
Sometimes I feel like I have two stomachs,I used to eat a big meal, and within a couple hours I was hungry again....ok,so I still feel like that, but I've only been on this diet a week.
I have been hungry, yes I have, but I've been trying to control what I eat and only graze during the day,but since I work nights and get home really late(2-3 a.m.),I eat my one larger meal in the morning...and not at night....
How long does it take before you start to notice that less food fills you up when you sit down to a meal?

What is considered grazing versus small meals?
I've been just grabbing a small handful of fruit or nuts,or a couple of veggie sticks here and there throughout my day,I do not have time at work to sit down long enough for a small meal.
I've been just keeping these foods prepped for easy eating and leaving them where I can just grab a couple and keep on about my work...I am lucky enough to have a fridge and freezer at work.
Am I eating too much this way? Am I not eating enough?
Also I was reading the part where it says your stomach will return to it's normal state.Does that mean it will shrink back to the size it's supposed to be if it's been stretched out by years of over eating?
I am new to this way of eating, and these questions have been in the back of my mind all week.

I love Almond Milk, even the unsweetened version.
We had been buying organic whole milk from the natural food store, which gets it from a local farm, and it is minimally pasteurized, and .....but have since quit buying milk at all.
Monsonto is just plain scary....I garden, and I am very choosy about where I purchase my garden seeds from, and unless you buy your seeds on line or through a catalog,it's nearly impossible to find seeds locally that did not come from Monsonto....

Yes that does,doesn't it.
What really prompted me to look for a change was the fact that my brother was diagnosed with type II diabetes early this year, and he's having a really hard time getting his blood sugar under control.
While not Diabetic,it's in the genes,so I will take no chances.
I've tried all sorts of things, and sure, you can lose a few pounds, here and there, but I want to lose a LOT and I want to be able to maintain it with real food, not prepackaged frozen stuff or diet drinks....A friend suggested this to me,as he's lost 50-60 pounds and gotten in really awesome shape from following this program...so has his wife, whose lost nearly as much as he has and looks fantastic.

I've been doing fairly well this week, being my first week, but my husband wanted to go out for ice cream last night after dinner(he's not following this with me).So we did,and let me tell you,for what little bit of it I had,it knocked my out like a sleeping pill....slept for 10 full hours, and I don't even do that when I'm sick(I have chronic insomnia, and tend to sleep in 2-3 hour blocks at night).....
Is that a normal reaction to sugar after not having had it for a while?
I learned my lesson and will not be doing that again, but just curious if that's what happens if you go off sugar and then have some again...

General Discussion / Fitness & Exercise / I can't run.....

I have broken my right foot three times, and can not run or even jog....a fast walk is about it....I can walk all day long and feel no ill affects......
Does anyone else have a problem with running? What do you do instead?
Jumping is out as well......
I am new to this and am looking for exercise ideas that are low impact enough that my foot won't give out on me during a workout.

I just started with this program four days ago,and I already feel so much better,it's almost unreal....
I thought I would feel tired and weak from not eating my normal foods, but I don't,in fact I have so much energy already that I feel antsy just sitting here typing this......
