THOUGHT EXPERIMENT

Here's the situation: the entire world is about to launch every nuke in existence. This is unavoidable and absolutly nothing you can do will avert nuclear war. However, you are standing in the command booth, (with a tremendous view, by the way) and are given the option to push "the button". If you don't, someone else immediatly will.
My question is: Would you push the button? Why/Why not?

Personally, I totally would. I think the reason why I would, is the same reason someone throws a pebble in a still pont, or fires a gun at tin cans in the dessert. I think it has to do with seeing how far a person can stretch their influence...

I would fight to the death, to the last breath, anyone who approached with the intention of pushing that button, and I would die with a clear conscience, knowing that I had done all in my power to preserve my loved ones, my species, and my planet.

The world needs a fresh start.

I'm with Tony - there is no way I would ever push that button, no matter what, and I would do my best to stop others doing so.
There can be no "fresh start" in a world made dead by radiation poisoning.

I'd let someone else carry that burden of pushing the button, If I pushed the button chances are i would have to off myself right afterwards. There is no honor in me pressing the button so I'd just leave it to an unhonorable person to go about that path.

I wouldn't push it, in the hopes that some small patch of forest would survive somewhere.

If you suspect that statement to be true, then you'll probably want to know why it could be true. Well, this is what I have devoted my life to finding out, and I want to share with you everything i've learnt, as well as learn from you!
Shut me up?
