Hello Everyone!!

Today is day 1 and so far so good. Wonder if anyone can help with a few tips :

1. I love fruit, vegetables and nuts and I filled the fridge last night, apples, plums, raw broccoli, raw carrots, red and white grapes, strawberries and coconuts. I have raw Brazil, cashew and walnuts in a tub. I have snacked on them today and its great I am drinking lots of water. Is there anything else I could snack on ?? Any ideas please.
2. I play rugby and have just started playing again after a torn rotator cuff (ouch!) We train on Tuesday and Thursday nights and play Saturdays, I usually get home at 9.30pm so is this too late for my one meal or should I have my meal in the day on these days and snack on fruit, nuts etc when I get back?? I usually have a protein supplement, is it still OK to have these shakes on the caveman diet??

I am excited by this and reckon I suits me and what I like. Just need a few pointers!?!?!

Thanks

Ian

Just my opinion, but i would give the shakes a miss..... some cooked chicken breast or other meat/ a hard boiled egg are much better choices. An occasional banana is also an idea as it replaces the potasium and other salts you lose through sweating. It's up to you what time you have your feast, the stages are fairly flexible. Do what works for you.

I agree with Nicki regarding the protein supplementation... there are better paleo-correct options available, compared to shakes.  If you tolerate dairy products well, however, a quality whey protein supplement isn't going to cause any harm.  As for when to feast, again, "do what works for you." The stages described by Matt when he created Caveman Power are a way for people to learn how to follow a healthy, evolutionary diet.  The ultimate goal, however, is to learn to eat the right kinds of foods, when your body is truly hungry.  Use the stages as a guide as needed, but above all else, listen to your body... if you're very active and need a little extra energy, don't be afraid to eat a piece of fruit, handful of nuts, slab of meat, etc.

I cook 10 plus chicken breast on Sunday and keep them in the fridge and grab them as you need to so it's just as fast as grabbing a protein shake. That's what I  do when I train for figure shows. Wink
