I started straight onto Stage 2 on 31 October, as I never really ate junk or carbs!!!  My weight by the way was 75.5 kilos and my height is 1.61m.  So I'm only about 10 kilos overweight.

Years ago I had problems and diagnoised with IBS and eventually I went to see an amazing doctor at the Middlesex Hospital in W1 London.  He put me on the 'Stoneman Diet' as he called it.  I felt absolutely amazing for the first time in years with no bloating, no headaches, no wind etc.  Unfortunately, life caught up and I forgot about this diet...!  BTW, I haven't exercised in 3 years (and to think I used to be an aerobics instructor with my own studios!!!!   Embarrassed  In fact I forgot about myself.  Rarely ate proper meals and lived on pasta (hot meal) or toast for breakfast and dinner.

Anyhow, I've now reached 57 and I have felt 'terrible' for years and months - no energy, constantly tired and appalling headaches.  For some reason I remembered this diet and went online and found you  Grin (Thank God).  Anyhow, the week before I was determined to start feeling alive and healthy or kill myself.  I gave up smoking and a week later started the diet.

Now 12 days later (oh, and 2 kilos lighter) I'm craving carbs big time.  I want cake (sweet?) and bread WHY?  Although, I rarely ate cake but I think that I'm missing bread.  What can I eat when the craving becomes too much (I have nothing in the house - all has been thrown out!).  Also, is honey OK to use in my herbal teas?  You say no milk but you're allowing cream and butter - why?

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

I occasionally crave carby foods like yeast rolls and cupcakes, but my fix for that is a sweet potato sweetened with honey. It has the carbs and sugars that your body is craving. It seems to do the trick for me Smiley

I dont know why they say no dairy and then say that butter and cream are ok, I have yet to figure that out myself. I still eat dairy (I don't think its bad for you if its whole and organic) but its true that a strict paleo-dieter doesn't eat dairy.

Paleohacks.com is a good site and you often get speedy responses (and there are a lot of doctors on there) they may be able to answer that question, not saying we cant answer it here (I am sure someone can). I just like sharing information  and paleohacks has a lot of it Smiley

Best of luck to you!

Thanks for your response, unfortunately we don't have sweet potatoes here in Cyprus where I now live.  Can you recommend anything else please?  And also can I use honey in my herbal tea sometimes when I fancy something sweet?

Oh I forgot how many nuts can we eat during the grazing day?

Many thanks

Can you get butternut squash or pumpkin??.......they're just as nice. Nuts are fairly high in calories, so just stick to a handful a day...... you can have carrott or celery sticks as well as fruit and seeds.

If you suspect that statement to be true, then you'll probably want to know why it could be true. Well, this is what I have devoted my life to finding out, and I want to share with you everything i've learnt, as well as learn from you!
