Well Hello Forum!

Well let me introduce myself! My Name is Marc and I live in Southern California. I have a family member that has been doing this diet and it has worked out great for him. Although he is alot thinner then me, I am hopeful this will work for me. I enjoy the fact there is a Forum for this!!

My Stats are off the deep end.. haha ..I am 6'1 and 265 +/- 10 lbs ( depends on week ) .. I have a great Gym Membership that I believe I have use 5 times in the last year. Sucks, I know ...

I have a Motivation problem, but I am working that off. I turned 30 recently and decided I need to do something that will better my health and way of life! I got tired of seeing the same fat figure in the mirror. This worked for my family member, why not give it a shot..

I haven't started yet, but I an hitting the store Friday after work to get what i need.

I have a Target goal of 205/210 lbs. I would like to reach that goal.

I have went through and read alot of good information from this site and forum. So hopefully I can show off some good photos after a few months of wonderful progress!!

I look forward to this change in life habits and talking with alot of you!

Have a Wonderful Day!

~ Marc

Good luck to you Marc after a few days you will notice you don't feel hungry.  I never get that "straving" feeling I use to have its great. You will really enjoy your feast so that will help with the motivation to stay on it. Keep us posted on your progress!!

I am so glad that this diet has worked for your family member, and yes it is very worth giving it a try!!

I have been on this diet for about 6 months now, it has been working wonders!! I feel so much energy and strength now!

I wish you the best! Motivation is key and I understand how hard it can be, its easy to get tempted to vear off track.

Thanks for Supporting Comments and Feedback ...

Tomorrow is Shopping Day, so I am really getting into the mindset for this..

I have looked into some of the exercise videos that are on this forum. Very interesting approach, but well worth trying. Based on that I got a pretty good mixed up of Circuit Day's scheduled. So let's see how this Pan's out ...

I look forward to progress .. I will be weighting myself at the Gym ( I will snap a Pic of the Unhappy scale.. hehe ) and will make that my starting point...

Again Thanks for the Comments and Feedback .. I feel good things to come with this way of life!

Rollie Pollie!

I am in Southern California too. I highly recommend Sprouts for your fresh fruits and veggies (If you cannot get to the farmers market in OB that is!) If you ever want a hiking/exercise buddy (and you are near San Diego) let me know!

I am in the High Desert   Sad Only because I work for the DOD at Fort Irwin ...

But I am running around down the hill all the time .. Calimesa ( Since that is where I board my Horse's )..

Would love to go hiking ...

BTW -  Been working alot .. so I haven't had timeto undate, but I am down around 8 lbs .. which is a good start .. I would be better if I hit the gym, but again been working all the time.. so hopefully it will calm down soon and I can get at the gym

Well on a Not so good Note, I have yet to start this Diet ..  Undecided

Does anyone have a Sample list of what to buy ? When I go to the Store I try and think what to stay away from so I try and buy good and never get around to eating it..

I have been trying to eat more Nuts ( Almonds mostly ) and trail mixes ... I have not yet got to the gym..

I have gotten up a few times  @ 4 AM with intent to go to the GYM ( I choose 4 AM because I get up at 5 anyways... and the Gym is Crowded like no Tomorrow after work until 10 PM .. so that is just not going to happen because I am not a ' Crowd ' Person .. lol )

I do not know why I have such a lack of motivation .. I have lost a few LBS, but that is due to working and training my Horse and with the Heat in So Cal you can't help but lose 3 - 4 lbs..   Cool

Has anyone had this Problem or am I just not committing?

My suggestion. If you have to start small, then start small.

Maybe first quit drinking sodas, then give up fruit juices, dried fruit.

Then after a while add in others to give up like potatoes, legumes, grains, rice, etc

Finally give up all processed foods. If it comes in a box, don't eat it.

PS Most store trail mixes are loaded with non-paleo items like crackers, pretzels, dried fruit, peanuts, and cashews.

Shopping list is tough, everybody likes different things, beets are good for you but I won't eat them, yuck!!!  Grin

I try to keeps steaks, bacon, eggs, fish, chicken, and shrimp in the house for meals.
For veggies I like spinach, asparagas, brocolli, carrots, cucumbers, mushrooms, and spring salad.

Check the labels on any salad dressing, most have High Frutose Corn syrup(you don't want that)

For fruit I eat a lot of pears, blueberries, strawberries, kiwi, oranges, plums, cherrys, mango, bananas, and apples.

For nuts I like pecans, walnuts, almonds, pine nuts, sunflower seeds, macadamians, and brazil nuts.

Cavemen didn't go to the gym either so that's no problem. I have a cheapo treadmill I use if it's too hot to walk outside. I prefer just walking outside thou, get some sun, see the sights. Some light free weights are good to have for toning. Maybe a jump rope, chin up bars are good to have and cheap to make/buy.

I've been reading a lot lately about the pitfalls of cronic cardio, try to avoid that. It leads to sore joints and boredom. Mix things up. My latest plan to mix things up is I plan on getting an archery set. Nothing fancy just work arm and chest muscles and have some fun shooting targets.

Cheat some too. Maybe as a reward for sticking to a planned exercise routine for a week. I like a full Mexican dinner when I cheat but whatever makes you happy. I'll also indulge in a little dark chocolate every now and then. Check the stores and go for the good stuff. There's all kinds of neat imported dark chocolates out there, buy the expensive stuff so you won't be tempted to eat it all the time.

Great post, Houmax   Smiley

To add to the physical activity suggestions, I also strongly recommend working a heavybag.  In my experience, nothing beats it (pun intended) when it comes to blowtorching the bodyfat right off.  Of course, an added benefit is that while you're doing it, you are also developing more effective/powerful strikes, should you ever need to physically defend yourself.

That's one good thing about this diet/lifestyle. You can skip 90% of the market. I just shop around the edges.

Produce, meat section, and sometimes a little cheese as a treat. Oh and chip section for some pork rinds, they're Paleo but kind of high in salt so enjoy them in moderation.
