Hi Iain, I beleive  shepherds is lamb and cottage is beef, so sorry I had cottage pie with swede mash  Smiley I have definately found the measuring to be more encouraging rather than the weight as lost 5lb in first week and then slowed down to 1lb week after, but gone down over a dress size in less than 4 weeks. Having lost 2 inches off waist and hips.

Lou,

I can never remember which pie is what either  Undecided

Sounds like you're doing great and I'm the same with weight loss, mine has slowed down now, I'm still aiming to lose another Stone though, I think 11 half stone will be about right for my height and build

And its clouding here again too  Cry

Well I am well and truly being tested....my eldest has an inset day today and him and my husband are having a late lunch...bacon sandwiches!

God they smell gooooood!

Day three and the first time I have felt tested...

I haven't weighed again since first starting, I measured that first day too. I am not too worried about my weight, (Well that's not strictly true of course lol) but inches/cm are more important! Smiley Although I started on Tuesday I plan to weigh and measure on a Monday.

Love the sound of the Shepherds/Cottage pie (I don't eat lamb so I guess I always eat cottage pie!!!) will try parsnip and swede mash, sound lovely Smiley xx

I've not tried the mashed swede and parsnips yet, I'll give it a go, it's gotta be a winning combination!!!

Well done for holding, I'm not so sure I could have stayed so strong  Smiley, the smell of bacon cooking is probably better than the actual taste  Lips sealed

Yea I think the clothes becoming looser is a better way to judge your progress, someone was saying they are running out of jeans that fit them so you get the added bonus of treating yourself at the shops

hmm treating is not quite what I would call it, I am from that rare breed of women, I hate clothes shopping...probably why I never lose weight, the fear of having to shop!! hahaha

Well I survived the bacon...go me!

Partyfairy,

You can have bacon no problem ( though not in a sandwich!!)...... grilled is better than fried obviously Smiley

I have bacon, egg and spinach most days either for breakfast or lunch.

Yes,
Bacon is fine.  I had bacon and eggs for dinner a few days ago.  I love shopping!   I just don't because I don't like spending the money....unless it's for my girls! If I have 50 bucks I'd rather buy things for them than myself!

BUT, once I get down to my target weight you better believe I'm going shopping!

oo that's interesting that bacon is ok Smiley cool...but the 2 pieces of thickly buttered doorstop, white bread aren't right? Wink

Had my first social outing last night, a friend was having a Vie at home party, (Make-up, again not my thing really!!) I did have a glass of wine, but managed to have no crisps, even when I had them wafted under my nose and I was well and truly teased by all the girls! hahaha again, feeling quite pleased with myself! Smiley

I don't see the lure of shopping, crowds of people, everything looks the same, and never what I am after, and then looks awful when I try it on, its noisy and stressful...maybe I will feel different when I am really thin!! (Doubt it, been there done that, didn't like shopping then either!!) I'm just not a girly, girl...no point getting all dressed up if all you are going to do is get it all messed up working on a car, or bus!

So here we are at the weekend, I think this is going to be a challenge...

Hi Partyfairy,

How are things going, I thought of you this morning, we had a family breakfast that I tweaked for the non cave people in the family. We had big flat mushrooms which I grilled, then filled with grilled bacon pieces, topped with scrambled egg for me and fried for the others, they then had cheese on top and all grilled again, it was delicious and would highly recommend!

I now haven't any jeans that fit /stay up or aren't annoyingly baggy around the legs  Cheesy.

Take care L

ooo Loulou that sounds lush! I love flat mushrooms Smiley I am going to try that one very soon!

Today, I have been a bit more stage 3 about things, and I think I am going to move straight over to that. I have still only had nuts and fruit for the most part, and not much of it, but had a couple of slices of ham at lunch time when making sandwiches for the others...

Tonight, (As we speak it is filling the house with its smell!! mmm) I am doing roast beef...plenty of roasted veg, carrots, parsnips and butternut squash, (Although when I was prep-ing this I did wonder if I was allowed it :/) and bell peppers, and some potatoes for the others. That is going to be a huge test of will power, can I NOT put my favourite food on my plate when dishing up? Roast potatoes...I could eat them alllll day!

Have also done some sage and onion stuffing, again, assuming this is un-caveman, so wont have any of that. Then some cabbage and leeks on the side...I can't wait...

Weigh in tomorrow morning, slightly less than a week since I started, but easier to remember to weigh on a Monday morning Smiley

The mushrooms were good, your roast dinner sounds good too, hope you enjoyed. I went straight in on stage 3 I have to admit! Good luck on the weigh in tomorrow too.

Take care

Fairy,

I feel for you, I love "LOVE" roast spuds but luckily for me, I don't have to cook for anyone else so the temptation isn't there, although the swede and carrot is a great replacement for the mash, I might experiment with trying to replicate the roast spuds   Shocked

Well dinner was lovely, and actually I didn't miss the potatoes as much as I thought I would...shame the cut of beef was a bit fatty in places, but still, roast veg is one of my favourite things to eat Smiley

I think I am going to skip straight to stage 3 now, I am not a junk food eater, but I do get headaches (and hellish grumpy) if I don't eat regularly, even if it is just a piece of fruit or a slice of ham... I seriously can't believe how good I feel right now this is awesome...Matt if youa re reading, you are a star x

One quick question, to you more established cave persons...Banana's...good, or bad? Normally they are seen as bad on a lot of diets...bit wary of them these days, but really love them...so can I? Or should they go the way of the monkey nuts??

xx

All fruit is Paleo correct. If your aim is to lose weight tropical fruits tend to have more sugar. Overall berries are better but I eat all fruits in moderation.

I eat maybe 3 bananas a week. If you like bananas eat them, just don't go overboard  Grin

Arrgghhh splitting headache!

Is this the result of low carbs do you think? Although I did have a little bit of rice with dinner last night Sad oops

Maybe I just need to drink more, and I have spent a lot of time at the lap top today working...maybe it is that, early night, and resting my eyes this evening I think Smiley

a good headache remedy is a tall glass of water. it takes a moment to kick in but it does eventually kick in. if a tall glass of water doesnt make it go away then try breathing in deep breaths. I have found that many of my headaches are because I need more oxygen, strange but breathing techniques and water help for me. if all else fails I just take some headache medication no sense in suffering.  Smiley

now if only I can say the same thing about childbirth "no sense in suffering" hahaha imma suffer and suffer with a smile on my face.
