Hello, new to forum. I like all the info here and I'm sure I'll have some questions as I progress.

Started eating caveman style last Friday. Was a terrible eater before. Lots of sweets, cookies and chocolate every day. Too much cheese. 5'9" and 190lbs was my wakeup call.

Just 5 days and it's amazing how much better I feel. More energy and mentally just feel better. My goal is to drop at least 30lbs.

Right now I'm eating 2 meals a day(caveman approved foods), and grazing on nuts and berries when I feel the urge to snack.

Welcome houmax, i have a similar weight (195) but I'm 5 7 so I guess you are in better shape then me.

My problem was really portion control, i eat healthy, but i eat to much of healthy food *didn't know it existed*

The exercise is key, as far as i noticed it gives that final push in motivation. Also drink ALOT OF WATER, I Drank so much water then my belly shrinked 1-2 inches, not weight loss, i just never knew i had so much water retention and that my body was begging for water
(I used to drink alot of caffeinated diet soda's)
When spring and summer shines take advantage of a local river or hikin trail to have fun.

Thanks for the welcome, and good point on the water. It seems like I've been craving water the last couple of days so I've been drinking lots.

As far as the caveman diet, what's y'alls opinions of the following...
Pickles
Orange Juice(I'm thinking once a day is too much)
V8 Juice, V fusion
Fresh fruit in general(What's best choices???) I've been hitting oranges, pears, apples, strawberries, blue berries and bananas.

Haven't gone caffine free yet, don't want to totally shock my system. I did give up sodas years ago so that's no problem. I usually have one strong cup of coffee on my drive to work, at work I'll have a couple green teas while I work.

Orange Juice if made from scratch, most companies add syrup, and other chemicals.

I wouldn't recomend V8 Juice, rather just drink the fruits/veggies that make it, You should only drink water.

I will drink V8 if I am in a rush and need to snag something drinkable and filling really quick... Thats really about the only time I opt for it.  Tongue

Check the ingredients list on the carton...... try and buy 100% fruit juice......... if you're at home then add some water, but if you're out and about then pure juice is fine Smiley

Since I started my Paleo diet before I found this site and had already been eating right for a week I decided to try step 2 listed on this site.

Helps that I'm off for 4 days starting Thursday.

No food since breakfast this morning. Next meal Thursday at 9am. I'm thinking shrimp as a reward Smiley

I think I'll try to stick to the one meal a day till I drop some pounds. Nothing helps motivate like seeing some results. I did drop 1 pound in a week just sticking to the paleo diet(2 meals and grazing all day).

Also working on dropping caffine. I have a machine that makes one cup at a time. I'll just use less and less ground beans till it will basically be hot water.

Well, just 8 days and dropped 4lbs so far and loving it.

Put the shrimp on hold and opted for a broiled Angus T-bone, raw carrots, spring salad, strawberries and blueberries and a handfull of pecans and walnuts.

Also had a good idea for apples. Tried it yesterday and it was great. About 10 minutes before my steak was done I took a green apple, cut it in thin slices, dusted it with cinamon and threw the slices on the broiler. Turned them once. Great treat.

Also sinus problems are doing a lot better since I've been off the dairy, cool.

Hitting the stairs at work, 6 floors, at least 6 times a shift.

Well, 15 days on Paleo diet and have lost 10lbs.

Along with the healthy eating I'm also walking about an hour a day, working with some freeweights, and taking the stairs at work.

I've only cheated twice so far. Both times, two oatmeal cookies  Grin

Can't wait till my May trip up to Colorado. I go hiking about every year up there. Trails should be much easier this year  Wink

Sounds amazing! Are you going to try to hunt or fish for anything on your outing?

Not really into fly fishing. I've done it before but not that exciting to me. I bass fish in Texas.

Mostly just a week of hiking and driving my Spyder on the fun mountain roads...

Nice bike.

I've taken my Vmax up there a few times, lots of fun.

Here's a video I made last year on Highway 550 between Silverton and Ouray.

I don't think so. Mostly just black and yellow large mouth. They're lots of fun fishing topwater thou.

Those striped bass get huge, like over 100lbs. Wild fight I bet.

When I'm lazy I'll even go for cats. Great eating.

I think the current record is 88lbs. But fish and game have recorded Stripers exceeding 120lbs!
Check out the food porn (G Rated) forum I have a picture of a few Stripers I wrestled in.

Just had to share a little update.

Weighed this morning, 166 lbs.

24 lbs in 8 weeks just eating Paleo and small increase in cardio exercises(walking, a little jogging, and taking the stairs at work)

My goal was 160 so should make that in a couple weeks. Woohoo!!!, so psyched. I could have lost it a little faster but this was mostly painless and easy.

Thanks, it helps to have people with common interest to share the journey.

I'll confess my original aim was just to drop some pounds but I'm starting to see the bigger picture of this lifestyle, more stamina, less health problems, keeping my body free of toxins and preventing damage with lots of antioxidents, etc.

As y'all can tell I visit this site almost every day and I read about everything on Mark's Daily apple. I even bought one of his Grok shirts.

Get Primal!!!

Starting to get comments at work about the weight loss. Cool.

I've even had a couple ask me about the paleo lifestyle/diet.
Most get turned off when I tell them I don't eat processed or fast foods along with rice, potatoes, grains, (y'all know the list)  Grin

Pity, because I don't even miss that stuff anymore.

Losing weight is getting tougher now but I'm building muscle mass. Seems like I'm staying around 163-164 but waist is coming down.
I've been eating a ton of raw and canned spinach and man are my forearms getting huge...

Impressive "photo," and I can see what you mean about the huge forearms!  I couldn't help noticing that you're squinting with one eye, though... might want to get your vision checked to make sure the caveman diet isn't lacking some vitamins essential for good eyesight.   Wink

4 Month update.

Getting easier and easier to stick to a paleo diet.

But main reason for update, made one of my goals. Now weigh in at a flat 160lbs, Yea!!!

Lost 30lbs and 5" off my waist in 4 months. I'm going to try to maintain about 155-160 but want to increase my endurance and add a little more muscle mass.
