Hi, I found this in the BBC News today: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-12049854 - a story about a Neanderthal family from 49,000 years ago who were killed and eaten by other Neanderthals.

Don't think I'll be going that far, though...   Shocked

I see this all the time with the mice I raise for snake food. With the mice its less a sign of starvation than it is a problem with dehydration though. They'll kill a peer and then bite the occipital region of their skull until they get a clear path to the spinal cord, they'll sever the spinal cord and then drink the fluid. its really insane, but absolutely intriguing!

I wonder if the family's peer were hungry or maybe it was a dominance thing? I know that chimps will cannibalize the opposing tribal members in a display of dominance.

It would be cool to find out, but I suspect we may never know.
Perhaps there was a food shortage? Or maybe they were killed in a territorial battle and eaten afterwards.

If you suspect that statement to be true, then you'll probably want to know why it could be true. Well, this is what I have devoted my life to finding out, and I want to share with you everything i've learnt, as well as learn from you!
Shut me up?
