Its been a while everyone! As the title of this post explains.. I am a prego cavewoman. Though due to an extreme bout of morning sickness I can barely eat and when I do its not the best choice of foods. I am hopeful that this will pass and I will be able to jump back on track! So I will keep everyone updated on how to survive pregnancy and still "be true to your biology" once I can properly eat again that is.

I've mostly been studying a lot, and trying to survive my first semester in college (which I think I did gloriously ) I found out I was pregnant early December, its been turning my world upside down! I know one thing for sure though: This child is SO grounded when it gets here hahaha

Excellent news, congratulations. As a newbie to Paleo, I was wondering how women coped with pregnancy and the diet, so it'll be interesting to hear your progress. Here's hoping the morning sickness wears off soon.

Thanks Falcon, I hope it wears off soon too! I don't think that being pregnant will change my diet any. I eat plenty healthy without breads and dairy products. Eat the proper fruits, veggies and meats and I can get all the nutrition I need only difference is now I have to eat more (about 300-500 calories more a day) to maintain proper weight and ensure that baby is getting all the nutrition she/he needs. Its going to be fun

Congratulations! I've heard that specific food cravings while pregnant is your body telling you that you need at least some of the nutrients in those foods, so enjoy and indulge a little! You are eating for 2 now.

Ok, so I am going to update this as much as possible to keep track of what I am eating every day. I think it'll help me to get a good idea of what I am missing (if anything) and/or what I need to nix out of my diet. I know I will make a few bumps in the road, but they must be cataloged so I can see if I am bumping too often or if its just enough. And I can have some help from my paleo buddies to give me a good alternative to things that weren't paleo friendly. Dairy is going to be included daily, I tried no dairy the other day and I felt uber fatigued and stressed. so just giving everyone a heads up, dairy will be included daily. I am more worried about grains anyway. 2/27/2011 breakfast+ Blueberry turkey patties (2) V8 cranberry/blackberry juice 8oz dinner+ Grilled fish taco salad -romaine lettuce - grilled Mahi mahi - tomatoes -grilled onion -canned salsa Fresh guacamole 1/2cup (or 1 avocado) Organic whole chocolate milk 8oz snacks+ Carrots Frozen Strawberry Fruit Bar (no sugar added, just frozen fruit puree) 80% dark chocolate 1oz 1/2 handful walnuts Greek Yogurt Aloe Juice drink 16oz supplements: Prenatal Vitamin tablet Fish oil (2) Today's vice:: sweet things, namely fruit and chocolate.

Congratulations. Will you be raising a baby or a cavebaby? If a cavebaby, be sure to give dietary restrictions to daycares and schools.

thanks I will be packing my child's lunches so no worries about straying from paleo. teh teachers can give them treats if they wish, kids will eat treats thats just how they are. but when they are home they'll be eating paleo like mama, for the most part. i know that I will make some sacrifices for them in ways of food as I think its important for children to try new foods and flavors. it'll be their choice as they get older whether or not they want to follow me in my paleo ways. I believe in giving children freedom and that by doing so you will show them respect and they'll give you freedom and respect in return.
