chicken stock (1 carton)
1inch piece of ginger, grated
10 cloves garlic, crushed or thinly sliced
fresh cracked black pepper
dash of red pepper flakes
handful raw shrimp
handful chopped cabbage
handful portabela mushrooms
1 tablespoon sesame seed oil
garnish with:: cilantro and lime (if desired)

put chicken stock, sesame seed oil, red pepper flakes, black pepper, ginger and garlic in a saucepan, bring to a boil. add cabbage and mushrooms and boil for 2 mins. add shrimp and cover. remove the sauce pan from the heat and let sit for 10 mins or until shrimp is fully cooked. serve and enjoy!

***this soup will make you "flush" and sweat. you can add more or less red pepper and black pepper to what suits your taste, but the ginger and garlic are important!! the blackand red pepper will help with opening your nasal passage ways if you are congested and will also help open your chest. garlic is an antifungal, antibacterial and decongestant also so breathing in the soup will help if your chest is tight or if you are suffering from pnemonia, as the garlic will help kill off the bacteria in your lungs. Ginger has been known to help with congestion and also promote all around good health! so this soup is perfect for those experiencing an upper respiratory problem. Or if you just wish to maintain your health during the sick seasons***

I designed this soup to taste similar to Tom Yum Goong, and found that it was very cheap and healthy alternative to the Tom Yum Goong paste that I had bought at my local asian market, which contained MSG and other ingedients that werent readily avalible to me.

If you suspect that statement to be true, then you'll probably want to know why it could be true. Well, this is what I have devoted my life to finding out, and I want to share with you everything i've learnt, as well as learn from you!
