Hey my brother told me about this kind of diet so i looked it up on google and decided to have a go.
im 18 years old and when i was 16 years old i was diagnosed with cancer and the chemo therapy took 2 years and now i am healthy (except for my weight). Before i was diagnosed i had bin on a diet for a few months and lost some weight and got down to 190 pounds but when i started chemo therapy i gained around 80 pounds so now i am 270 pounds -.- ever since then its bin really hard for me to get back on my feet and go to the gym and live a healthy life style but now i decided to exctually write about it and post my progress every week or so! and if you have any advices please share them! Cheesy so im going to write down my long term goal and short term goal on this topic and hopefully some will read it.

My current weight: 267,4lbs
My long term goal: 160lbs
i dont have a short term goal just yet im going to see how my first week goes so i know how much weight loss i can excpect  Grin

Hey Steiner,

welcome aboard lol  Cheesy I myself only started less then a week ago but already i have learnt soooo much from the posts I've read from others. For one, this is not just another fad diet it's a life style that will change your attitude towards the food you put into your body. You will feel better, look better and be healthier for it. Secondly, don't expect to loose an awful amount of weight on stage 1 - you are really just preparing you body for stage 2 & 3 and trying to teach your body to dislike unhealthy and processed foods. From what I have read so far it is in stage 2 that the weight really starts to come off as the detoxing begins and you are burning fat during the day instead of food. Some people have reported a small amount of weightloss that I can see on stage 1 - I myself have lost 3kgs since I started - but from the posts I've read you are encouraged to not think about the weightloss factor, think about the health factor and the weight will come off on it's own. The more you stress about loosing weight the less likely you are as stress can be a major factor in weight gain. Anyway good luck and hope to hear about your progress in the near future

It's ok to indulge once in a while (in moderation of course) and Xmas is probably the best time to do it. I think you should try to stick to your diet as much as possible but if temptation shows itself have 1 cookie or 1 whatever - if you try to completely block out everything this early on you may find you start to resent this diet and end up giving up - stage 1 is about learning to hate bad food and in time you will and your body will hate it too - trust me it will tell you it's unhappy if you eat something not good for it  Smiley

Hope this helps

i've been apart of this lifestyle for over 2 years now and I have found that during the holidays it is best to only eat the desserts that you absolutely HAVE to have. for me thats pumpkin pie (though i have made a paleo version that is much better than that pastry crust pumpkin pie) other than that its the black eyes peas at new years. I live in a southern american (not south America.. like Dixie, rebel, confederate type southern) type family and we are all about soul food, which is really hard to stick with this lifestyle  when I have family events... theres lots of biscuits to be had haha. But after so long of not eating grains I find that I don't want them anymore and when i do have them I find I dont enjoy the taste.

Hi~  I started just this week and I think Christmas time is a great time to start.  This way we will have a stronger since of what not to eat and only indulge on a small amount rather what you may have done in the past.  I am a super healthy eater, but sugar is my vise!  So even though I know it is unhealthy it is my first indulgence so I have created new recipes of my favorite things by using low glycemic sugars like Palm Sugar that way I am not only helping my family but I am helping my self if I choose to have a nibble while on phase 1.
Never give up! Be strong and we can all achieve a better standard of health for our bodies.

I lost 95 pounds in 8 months on this diet.  Every single thing they say on this website is true.  I have had three kinds of cancer.  Lymphoma, skin cancer and tumors in my feet.  I was diabetic and very close to death one year ago.  I mean I was on Oxygen and pills up the yeng yang.  After this diet.  and some juicing, I have no cancers and I take no pills.  I am clean and healthy.  My advice is to do everything they say here and add a juicing regiment and exercise.  Your cancer is most likely caused by eating too much animal products.  Fats and animal proteins.  Try organic vegetable proteins.  I have seen people with bad cancer of the spleen heal themselves with fresh fruit and veggie diets.  Good luck to you. you are on the right track.  Your immune system will be much more effective and the medicine the docs give you will also be more effective.  Hopfully you will get off all the meds.  They can also do harm long term.  Love you guy.  Don't give up!

Great work! This gives me hope! I've been on medications for cholesterol and triglycerides for some time now and look forward to the day when I don't take them.

I've lost a bit over 3 lbs in a month since I started paleo. With the exception of 10-14 days, I don't recall exactly, I eat as a stage 3. Most of the weight came off in the past 10 days.

Some of the most notable changes are:
- I eat less,
- I feel nourished. Wanderings around the house, 'I need to eat something but don't know what-let's have some chocolate', are gone,
- a perception of hunger is changing,
- physical changes that are inexplicable solely by fat loss,
- a boost of mental and physical energy.

A temporary obstacle is that i have to re-invent my cooking habits. The ingredients I use to prepare the meals are more and more diverse. I use vegetables and herbs I've never used before.

Jana,
I've noticed some of these too. This morning my wife even commented that she thinks that I'm less irritable, that's a definite plus for me!
So far:
1 Less irritable
2 More energy
3 Eat less (also means less $$ spent)
4 Perception changes about food and huger. "You mean I'm not going to die if my stomach grumbles?!" ha ha ha
5 ... more to follow.

I don't know if it's less irritability or that I just process things a different way.
For me this started when I eliminated gluten foods from my diet due to gluten intolerance. For the first time in life I had enough energy to deal with the every day situations as they came. Respond to social stimuli in time to prevent conflicts to pile. Paleo just gave me the extra energy and will to lead a normal life.
I'd say that 'less irritability' is actually a result of being able to solve problems as they come. Less provocation/problems results in less irritable. Since I've also been solving some old and established problems some of my friends think I've changed. the truth is that now I have the energy to open my mouth and speak for myself.
