Hi, How much do you eat in the evening? Could you share exact quantities with me? I'm a bit worried I binge in the evening. I eat a lot, and I feel totally stuffed when I finish. I cannot stop eating when I feel moderately full. I'm just too hungry. I'm a woman and I've been eating similar diet (I include grains and dairy in the diet) for a year and seven months. I would be gratuful for advice and/or comments.

I would say that you have to get to the bottom of why you can't stop eating once you start. One thing you can try doing is eating with a blind fold on (put your food in a bowl instead of a plate). If you are really concentrating on whether you feel full or not, you will eat less. ( I have tried this myself, and i ALWAYS eat a lot less when blindfolded). Try and remember too that your stomach SHOULD be the size of your fist....... that's the portion size you should be aiming for. If your stomach is 3 times that size, then every morning before breakfast, you'll be 3 times as hungry as you should be. If starving all day and binging all night doesn't suit you then don't do it...... you can always eat 6 smalls meals during the day. My partner is trying this method and it's really working because he's never hungry by eating frequently. Hope some of this has been helpful Nicki

Thanks, Nicki for your advice and comment. You're absolutely right that you are too hungry in the morning after eating too much in the evening. I've wondered why it was so.
The problem I have with this way of eating pattern is that it suits me perfectly but I'm not sure it would suit my overall health in the long run. It is a sort of eating for convenience. I'm alert and energetic during the day, less focused on cooking and eating and more focused on my work, which requires huge amounts of concentration and creative thinking, which eating decreases in my opinion, not sleepy at all (and I used to have a two hour nap every day "before the diet") and sleepy and peaceful at night, just as I should be. But so many nutritionists and doctors say this way of eating is a sure way to an early grave or health problems.
An example of what I eat in the evening during only one meal - two slices of wholerye bread with butter, two radishes, a plateful of millet (this small yellow grain) with strawberry sauce (made of 12 stawberries, 2 slices of cottage cheese, half a cup of cream, half a cup of milk, 1 banana), a handful of walnuts. Sometimes I eat a little more or more "heavy" stuff than that.

Your menu for stage one is just fine, but moving on from there will need some changes. The foods you're eating at the moment are high GI which means they give you a quick buzz then a fast slump...... if you ate these all day you'll be tired and sleepy at certain times. The foods you'll be needing next are low GI such as fruits veggies and lean meats. These are the staples of the caveman diet. It will be up to you when you eat them for convenience, but i would suggest if you're struggling to lose weight because you're binging too much in the evening, then go for the 6 small meals options. You could always try different ways of eating for a few weeks at a time and see what works for you. Good luck Nicki

A good rule of thumb is 'First Burp'. When you have your first burp...stop eating.

I used to eat until I was stuffed, but after being on the cave man/Paleo diet for a couple of weeks I've retrained myself to stop after eating what I put in front of me,not go back for more, and not go looking for treats that are on the no no list....
I don't sit down to meals other than breakfast,I just snack all day on Paleo food, and I feel good and energized all day....
I used to get ups and downs with blood sugar swings, but now I don't.
It takes time, but if you take a few minutes before you eat to stop and think about what you're eating, you'll feel less inclined to eat until you can't eat anymore....
I'm still new at this, and still getting used to my new eating plan, but it's working,I feel better, have more energy,so I must be doing something right.

I'm having some great results, 28lbs lost in 8 weeks!!! I have a lot to lose. Anyway point of my reply is that for 8 weeks I haven't had a knife or fork in my mouth. I took the advice and always now eat with my fingers. It puts a totally different feel and taste to food.

But how much do you actually eat when you fast all day or eat one or two snacks throughout the day? Somebody willing to give the exact quantities? I'll be more than gratful. Are there any people out there not eating much during the day and then eating breakfast, lunch and dinner at once? I'm particularly interested in how much you, women, cavewomen, other females eat.

I'm not a woman but for me on fasting days with just one meal I might have like 1/2 a T-bone steak. 10 medium shrimp, and a can of spinach(or whatever veggie is handy). Maybe a glass of almond milk with dinner. Maybe a piece of fruit after dinner. On grazing days I might have a smaller Main meal, something like 3 eggs, 3 bacons or 6" deer sausage and a salad. Then I might graze on like 1/4 cups of nuts, a pear(or similar), and maybe a 1/2 cup of berries. I like to carry a Larabar or extra dark chocolate bar(I might eat 1/3 of it) in case I get a sweet craving.

I usually pop a couple small steaks, chops, or pieces of chicken on the Foreman Grill or in the oven and steam or saute some vegetables while the meat is cooking. I'm getting very creative with my vegetables. I've found some really cool combinations and playing with spices is fun too. Last night, I had a couple small pork loin steaks with a combination of bean sprouts, mushrooms, green and red peppers, onion, garlic, and carrots. I cooked the vegies in some olive oil with some dill, rosemary, ceyanne pepper, and seasoned salt. Eat lots of vegies and drink lots of water. I'm having a lot of fun with this and feel better than ever:)

Hi
I think it is hard to give exact quantities as people differ, also i think it depends if you want to lose weight or not. If you are bigger you would naturaly start off eating a bit more. I do the following....Every morning I measure 2 handfulls of nuts and put them in a bowl and do the same with fruit...that will be my quota for the day until feast time. Supper I will have a piece of meat, chicken or fish the size of my hand and double that in veggies. If I am hungry I drink water. It has worked for me so far, I hope it helps you.
