Hi, I'm new here and I've been browsing this site for a week now, and me and my roommates and boyfriend are considering this plan. I do have a few concerns though:
We are all college students on a VERY limited budget, we basically grab what's on sale when we can! Plus we live in a small city, the thing we have available to us and that's the cheapest is Wal-Mart. Not to mention, three of the four of us are on a college meal plan. Can we still be successful this way?

Another thing is that only two of us are looking to shed some weight, the other two just want to eat healthier and boost their energy, so where would they start? They are both very slim and have the metabolism of ten people combined it seems, they just need an energy booster.

Also, I notice that I have a very strange addiction that's caused me grief throughout the years. Ramen noodles. I would pick them to eat over a big juicy steak if I could. I've been eating them since I was little and I've developed quite the addiction to them to the point where I'll get to feeling angry and such when I know I can't have them. I think it may be the sodium in them that I'm addicted to. Where it's hurting me is how I eat them also, I think. I mix together beef and creamy chicken flavors in 2 cups of water with a lot of ground red pepper, and when it's done cooking I add a slice of kraft cheese. .-. I think that will be my biggest issue when starting this diet.

And a random question: Would eggdrop soup be okay for this diet?

Any advice would be super helpful!

well noodles are a no-no for sure.. it might take a bit but after awhile you won't miss them at all you will realize how terrible they make you feel Smiley  just go to the 3 stages and look at the food there. I know its hard on a budget but if you have a meal plan just stay away from the grains they must have some salads or stir frys? get some nuts, seeds to snack on and some fruit. Can you buy some meat and cook it and have it cold with some salad?  Good Luck, you will feel terrific once you change your eating ways.

Hi!

I found by concentrating on foods you CAN have is easier than concentrating on what you not best to eat, the meals kind of sort themselves out really, by cooking too much for dinner you have already made breakfast for yourself etc. Good luck.

@kenney: Yeah, I'm well aware on the whole noodle thing. Also, you don't have much of a choice on what they serve you, which is usually a big, greasy mess. They do have a salad bar, but it's kinda limited and I'm sure after about a few weeks of eating the same salad over is gonna get boring. >_< I dunno, it's just all confusing. I know about the seeds and nuts and fruit and all that, but like I said, all we really have is walmart. I looked for the nuts and stuff yesterday and everything they have is salted and whatnot.

@Loulou: Thanks. :]

the site can go off and on with its updates so don't get discouraged. Try paleohacks.com  its a good site also and has more members than we do. this site is more like a family, not to mention many of the older members often go long periods without getting online.  Lips sealed  I admit I do fall out of sight often but I always migrate back.

you may have to practice a good deal of self discipline if you are that addicted to ramen noodles. honestly it may be the salt and MSG combination in them that causes your addiction. I would limit the amount of salt you eat but you don't have to eliminate salt all together, just reduce it. so say you have some salted nuts, just make sure that the rest of the day you nix the salt.

I assume its a super walmart? they have a good selection of produce to choose from.

Yeah, Wal-Mart super center. O: They do have a good produce section, just can't find the nuts.
And I didn't mean for it to sound bad or anything! I was just really hyped up and kinda anxious, I guess? Cheesy
