Hello!

I am looking into getting a dehydrator to make jerky. Are there other healthy, convenient caveman recipes that you recommend and makes it that much more beneficial?

Thank You!

I personally like dehydrators, they come in handy!

I like dehydrating apples and using them in salads with some poppy-seed dressing Smiley

I don't have many dehydrator recipes, but I do like to mix up different spices for beef and chicken jerky, like Caribbean jerk jerky!

Thanks so much! I looked up other recipes and realized it is totally worth it. I like the idea of being able to dehydrate fruit and make my own jerky and know what is in it.

I love dried fruits but remember they have a high dose of sugar.  Aren't we supposed to avoid that?  I am just getting started so I am not too sure.  Dried pears are my absolute favorite followed by Madjool dates.

not everyone on this diet avoids sugars (I know i dont!) fruit sugars are fine as far as I know, just with all things remember moderation is key!  I still drink a glass of O.J. with my breakfast and my docs say I am as healthy as an Olympic athlete (their exact words...  Roll Eyes  )

however I am on stage 3 and have been for almost 3 years now. when first starting out limiting sugars would be the best idea, if your goal is to lose weight. if your goal is to just maintain a healthy weight and eat healthier then just moderate your fruit sugar input.  Grin

Thanks so much for your input everyone!

I definitely agree to keep the fruit in moderation. I was under the impression that when you dry fruit yourself - it is better than the stuff you buy in stores because you can control the preservatives and sugars that go into it, etc.

I may be wrong - the internet is full of a plethora of information, some may be correct and some incorrect Smiley

I do like the jerky as a snack however and look forward to some fantastic recipes for it.

Do you marinate the meat ahead of time? Does that help the flavor? That may sound like a silly question, but there are so many opinions out there on the internet, I thought I'd get some recipe advice.

Thanks again!
