People will tell you different things about fruit for this diet..... some say bananas are bad.... some say apples are bad..... some say citrus is bad...... i would say have a wide selection of fruits of different colours, because then you'll get a good variety of nutrients especially vitamins. For me i think berries are highest on my yes list as they contain anti-oxidants.

I prefer berries too but as "berry season" is over now I am looking for a replacement. I do not like apples that much and most other fruits available now are grapes, bananas, peaches, nectarines, plums or citrus. I was thinking of oranges with their vitamin c qualities as winter is fast approaching. I also realised that citrus (oranges, mandarins, naartjies) is rarely mentioned on the forum and was wondering if there might be a reason for it?
Thanks Lilo

i don't think that there is any particular reason why oranges aren't usually mentioned, it may be that its just never been brought up. we mostly talk about berries but thats mainly because they have a ton of nutrients and we are all about getting as much nutrient as possible from our food. Oranges sound like a good idea to me I drink 6oz of fortified orange juice every morning.

Oranges, like other citrus fruits, is an excellent source of vitamin C (provides about 60% of DRI); Vitamin C is a powerful natural antioxidant. Consumption of foods rich in vitamin C helps body develop resistance against infectious agents and also, scavenge harmful, pro-inflammatory free radicals from the blood.

Funny thing happened today. I started tasting fruit as sweet and not sweet/sour. Who would have guessed that berries are sweet I used to like them because of their sourness.

It depends upon your diet plan and what you are trying to do. If you want to burn some fat to lose weight than orange is very good for this purpose. Orange is a natural fat burner food and there is no problem to eat one orange a day. But I know body builders who want build up muscles and want to gain muscles strength don't like to eat oranges.
