I am diabetic and don't believe I can go without a breakfast without getting sick.  I have tried that on my own, and usually do get sick.  How should I proceed with this diet?

hello and welcome. I would say, don't avoid breakfast! I usually have a handful of berries and a handful of nuts for breakfast, but it's up to you. Omelette, bacon and mushrooms, fruit, whatever you like that is paleo.
I would say you'll need to avoid stage 2. Try stage 1 and then move direct to stage 3.
See how it works for you. But don't take chances with your condition.  you should find that cutting out a lot of processed food reduces the amount of sugar you are consuming anyway.

Falcon has a point, there is no need to risk anything with your condition. and skipping breakfast is a no-no anyway! atleast in my opinion. I jumped directly into stage 3 after going through stage 1 for a year (but thats because I was anorexic, not because of this diet..) let me just say that the paleo diet brought me back and I am 100% better now Smiley though i do find myself forgetting to eat, but I always pop back on track!

as for breakfast, eat breakfast and graze the rest of the day until feast time. or make breakfast your feast! you can choose whatever time of day you want to have your feast so if you find that after a good breakfast you can go most of the day just grazing then do that, if the afternoon is better, graze in the morning and evening and east your feast in the afternoon. its all about how your body responds and what makes you feel comfortable  Smiley  best of luck to you!

If you feel you can start as you mean to go on, then you could try starting at stage 3, just eat the correct foods little and often........in fact you might find this helps your diabetes as you're sugar levels should be more constant. ( do continue to take any medication you're on of course Smiley)

I found a daily blog of a diabetic on Mark's site that details her daily intake of food. You might want to check it out...

An article more to your question...

Should diabetics fast?

I hesitate to make medical recommendations. In fact, I won’t. But I will point you to an interesting account by a guy who “defeated” type 2 diabetes with intermittent fasting. He didn’t call it that – he called it skipping meals – but it amounted to IF. Lee Shurie began by lowering carbs, exercising, and losing weight, which helped but did not cure him. He noticed that his blood glucose was elevated upon waking so, instead of eating immediately and spiking it further, he waited until it dropped to normal levels before eating. Now, this took a while, sometimes until the early evening, but he found that if he ate only when his blood sugar had normalized, it stayed normal all the time. Shurie was effectively IFing without knowing it, and no longer classifies himself as diabetic. Will the same thing work for every diabetic? Maybe, maybe not, but it’s something to consider. IF does generally improve insulin sensitivity, glucose tolerance, and helps with weight loss – all desirable things for a diabetic – but remember that before he was able to skip meals, Shurie had to reduce carbs and start exercising.

I changed the way I eat to eating my big meal in the morning and I feel SO much better, I felt faint the other way, my co worker did the same thing and she has lost 15 pounds so far she said she eats so much less now thru out the day. So maybe try this and just graze the rest of the day see how it goes.  Smiley
