as I was leaving my developmental biology class today, i saw a young deer out of the corner of my eye. I stopped and sat down on the sidewalk and watched him/her for about 10 minuets before anyone around me noticed that I was looking at the deer. needless to say they didnt even see the deer until they looked out to the tree line.

the sad part is that it wasent even hidden well, it was easily recognizable against the green grasses and shrubs. How no one else saw it was beyond me. I caught onto its presence the moment I stepped outside the building.

this lead me to think about how seperated humans have become from their natural environment. That its to the point where no one notices a deer that is clearly out in the open. either the people passing by had no appreciation for the animal or they simply didnt see it, i will never know. But the simple fact that no one even glanced over at the deer made me feel appauled, have humans really lost all instincts?

I also had a kid ask me why I didnt wear shoes when walking outside. he went on about "plantars warts" and ring worms and how I'll get calluses and make my feet look ugly.  I laughed at that, he apparently didnt noticed that i already have pretty big calluses on my feet. I feel constricted when i wear shoes, and on a nice warm day like today I saw it as perfect opportunity to take off my flip flops and walk bearfoot around campus. needless to say after a stressful few hours in class walking around feeling the grass between my toes was a welcome luxury.

hahaha!

I had a conversation with someone in my Anatomy and Psysiology class today about the Paleolithic diet, it started with her talking about eating healthy and losing weight and I explained a little of how the diet works to her. she seemed interested, but as always people shy away from the "no grains" portion of it "you mean you can't eat pancakes?" nope, no pancakes haha. I was never a fan of them anyway, good thing too.

my hubby got raisin bread this past week, and Ive had 1 or 2 slices of it in the past week. Its a nice treat but I honestly have lost all taste for bread, even raisin bread (which was my favorite). amazing how if you get yourself used to something enough then everything else seems unappetizing.

When I get a craving for a "bread"(no bread in them) I grab either a Larabar Banana Bread...

Or their Apple Pie,,,

Cinnamon Roll is good too but it does have a couple cashews in it in case your trying to avoid them...

oooh that gingersnap one... *drool*

I am a sucker for anything ginger... and gingersnaps are by far my favorite cookie so that'll do great! Smiley

I made lasagna for the first time in a year the other day... had to have it kinda deal (damn it all) but it turned out very good and of course I made it uber nutritious haha. though my stomach became a bloaty mess after I ate some...  Undecided  ah well, hubby took it into work and they ate the rest of it ahaha. saved me some grief.

Thanks Houmax for a new idea of foods!  Before I started this diet I was big carbs and dairy person.  It is a tough transition to drop those types of foods.  But this just might help.   Cheesy
