Up to you....... I stopped caffeine altogether, though I do have one cup of decaf every morning because I like the taste........ I had a whopping headache for several days when I gave it up which told me all I needed to know about what it was doing to my body :/

standard coffee ( not decaf ) has recently been reported to be excellent in helping to stay certain cancers, like bowel/colon cancer.  I'll keep drinking it, but hydration is required through lots of water, not coffee.  Water is important

I quit caffeine, personally. Like Nicki said, all you need to know about how addictive it is can be learned by the painful withdrawal.

I feel that if you can't have things like peanuts and black beans that coffee beans are equally off limits by the primal rules. I may be wrong but that logic makes sense to me.

Um.... Because it's not paleo.... And although there are positives, there are also negatives..... A personal choice of course, but I am SO glad I gave it up !

it may not be paleo, ( well, it is a bean ) but it doesn't have to be it if has benefits of preventing cancer.  It's a matter of priority, and that iS a major priority

Like I said a personal choice...... Of course reducing your cancer risk is important, but there are also negative effects on health....... Like a lot of foods/ drinks ie wine and spirits there are always pros and cons  so you have to decide for yourself ..... For me the pros and cons are about equal so I decide not to drink it because (a) it gives me headaches and ( b )  cavemen wouldn't have drunk it.......I think the original poster needs to make their own choice  Smiley
