Hi everyone!
I am new to the caveman diet however i was wondering if anyone could help me with a couple of questions, i have an IUD (form of contraceptive) that has progesterone in it, which my doctor told me would make put on a bit of weight, well a bit turned in to 30 kilos now and im eager to lose it, i am wondering if there is anyone else that has had a hormone replacement and found this to still work?

I also have gouty arthritis in my ankle and knee, unfortunatley i refuse to take tablets because i dont like taking anything unless i have to, but i have heard that a moderate diet with limited unprocessed foods will help to control this, does anyone know if this is the case or have similar experiences?

any advice would be appreciated, thanks  Grin

Hello and welcome, Skippy   Smiley  If you follow this way of eating, you will lose fat and improve/maintain lean muscle mass.  If you have gout, it's probably a good idea for you to avoid organ-meats and nuts, at least until your body has had a bit of time to "reset" itself, biochemically and metabolically, though you'll likely find that your gout symptoms will greatly improve with the loss of the extra weight.

I don't know much about the science with this diet and hormones but I myself am looking to get an IUD, which brand do you have? I have heard that they can help lose weight, I guess that depends on the person.  I am looking to get MIrena brand...

I agree with Tony with steering clear of organ meats and nuts for your gout.

Best of luck to you!

Processed foods especially those canned goods that have high content of additives and artificial preservatives have no place on your 1200 calorie diet menu. Instead, you can turn to organic poultry meats, unprocessed chicken, fish, whole eggs, organic rice and more on vegetables and fruits.  Those foods rich in protein are recommended too like raw nuts.

I don't seem to recall anyone mentioning a "1200 calorie diet" in this thread, Jon.  Considering that this is your first post, I'd say your insertion of a link unrelated to the paleo lifestyle is suspiciously close to spamming, and your recommendation of raw nuts is ill-advised for someone with gout (as is the mention of rice for someone exploring a grain-free way of eating).

I've removed your link to the website, as it was not on-topic.  Try to keep up, now.  You've been warned.
