I feel a sense of sadness for my nation's (U.S.A) wild life, namely bison & buffalo. I also feel much distress for north american fox and many of our native animals. There are so few places where these nomadic animals can travel, they are forced to stay on reserves (in fear of being killed and taken to slaughter) and have to brave the harsh cold. They are hearded back into the reservations when all they want to do is travel to a new, slightly warmer and more food abundant area. Its very sad to see one of this nations strongest and magificent animals being treated like prisoners, rather than being able to roam freely.  Cry

I understand the ideology behind keeping them contained but it still saddens me to see them treated like cattle rather than wild animals.

It was just on my mind, thought I'd share some of my inner workings with everyone.

Your thoughts just as accurately described the native peoples who once depended on the buffalo for their survival.

It would be good if the US could do what they're trying to do in the Himalayas for snow leopards and other animals - have several reserves scattered around and then create corridors of protected land from one reserve to another.
The worry in the Himalayas is that animals will start to inbreed because they can't reach new mates in other reserves. This is the solution, which I think is an excellent one, allowing for young adults to migrate and find their own territories and mates.

Its a very sad state of affiars thats for sure. It just doesn't seem right at all.

Falcon- that is very unfortunate whats happened to the now leopards, they are such beautiful animals, and remarkable predators too! Thats a wonderful idea to allow the young adults go into other reservations. inbreeding could lead to some serious problems.
