I'm beginning Phase I today.  Can I drink coffee? Black at least?  or really just water?

Coffee isn't really paleo correct, but some on here do have it occasionally....why not use this time to try other drinks and see if you like any??...... i drink red bush tea and diluted fruit juice.

It's all about moderation, a lot of people drink coffee, I cut it back to just on the weekends. If you quit caffeine cold turkey you can expect headaches

best advice is to limit your coffee intake slowly, I gave up coffee but went over to green tea. however green tea has some caffeine in it and I am totally addicted to having that one cup a day. I think its a fair trade off though. If you want to be completely paleo but still have a bitter drink with a little caffeine in it try making a really strong black tea. Like Earl Grey Smiley
