what is it that you want to do exactly? Tone it up? Gain muscle? slim down?

I am going to be a first time mommy soon so I will probably need to keep this thread in mind for after the fact hahha. I found that doing russian twists are very reliable when you want to slim your waist, especially if baby gave you love handles. Pick a medicine ball, not too heavy, make sure that it is a comfortable weight for you. I used 20lbs, but I started out with a 10lbs weight and worked up from there. I will bring the ball side to side, touching the floor with it and do this for 30 seconds non-stop, then pause and do it for a minute, pause and then for another 30 seconds. OR you can do what I do and just keep doing them until your abs feel like they are about to fall off another good work out is this: I forgot the name of it but you lay down flat on a mat, and then bring your legs and torso up to make a V shape with your body. Hold for 10-20 seconds (whatever works with you) and then lay back down and repeat. This will work out the bottom and top portions of the abdominal area, while the russian twists will tackle the side. I know of a lot more but these are the two that really helped me slim down when I first started this diet/exercise plan. I hope it helps!

I'm a big fan of getting into a "plank" position and just holding it. Sounds easy, right?
Ready... GO! (and let me know how you feel in a minute or so...)

HATE the plank!! But it sure does work. Plank jacks are really good for lower leg workout and cardio at the same time as well. (Plank, but legs jumping in and out like jumping jacks, whilst trying to keep your butt in line). Agony. Sidhe, I think your second exercise is the Boat? From yoga? Because I travel to work by bus, 45 minutes each way, I make a point of always sitting up straight, not leaning against the back rest, and using my core to stop me swaying when the bus corners. It doesn't sound like much, but it's a light, constant 45 minute ab workout. It's also good for posture muscles, because you're resisting centrifugal pull. I guess it could be done on a train or in a car as well, but buses are really good because of all the stopping and starting. I aim to keep myself perfectly vertical at all times, whether we're cornering, braking or accelerating. Falcon

The 'boat' pose in Iyengar Yoga is where the buttocks are the only thing on the sticky mat and the legs and torso are at equal angles from the floor, but also in a 'V' shape. Very hard but very rewarding.

remember you can't spot reduce (lose weight) only spot train and tone. The weight will come off where it wants to. I am a huge ab advocate as I have had 2 back surgerys and know the importance of core work for back stablization.
